refunding my customer
Summary: micwe-7188 is struggling to refund a customer for a stamp book allegedly stolen by UPS, valued at $1726.12. Despite contacting customer service and being told the refund was processing, it hasn't been completed, leading to frustration and the decision to pursue legal action against UPS. Other participants questioned the certainty of UPS's culpability and offered alternative explanations, while also asking micwe-7188 for more tracking information which seems unclear. There is an ongoing debate about the responsibility and possible recourse, with suggestions to manage the refund through the existing case.
I am just trying to refund my customer after UPS stole his stamp book he bought from me that cost $1726.12. I cant refund him because there is a case open. I called CS and they said they are sending him the refund right now yesterday. It has not been done I called back in this morning and they hung up on me. This has been the biggest nightmare. I cant even refund my customer. UPS are crooks their tactics to not refund you will make you insane. I am suing them. Why doesnt Ebay refund my customer?

·1 week agoHow do you know for a fact that UPS "stole" the item?
Please provide more details. It is likely we can help you, but there has to be so much more to this story than has been shared @micwe-7188

·1 week agoDid you contact CS via the Help/Contact window or a phone number you found on the internet?

·1 week agoAre you comfortable selling a $1,700 item knowing that ANY buyer can rip you off simply by making a false claim? There is no way to prevent that from happening.

If there is a case open, you have the option to refund the buyer.

·1 week agoHi, We here in N.J. would love to know if there was any sort of tracking on this item (not familiar with UPS procedures - we always use USPS) Does the tracking tell us anything?
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoI’ve been dealing with this matter for like 58 days of course there was tracking full insurance and signature confirmation

·1 week ago@micwe-7188 OMG what????? You and your story is ALL over the place.
1st- there is NO ONE at ebay that will 'perform' that refund'
2nd-if it's over 30 days AND the customer NEVER opened an 'official' return on ebay for the reason of 'not received' then it will NEVER happen!
3rd- someone asking what the tracking said is VERY important. Does it say 'Delivered or NOT!!??

·1 week agoYou say "of course", but how is anyone here suppose to know that since it was NOT previously shared. If this is a 60 day old problem, Ebay would have never let it go this long IF the buyer actually opened a claim in Ebay.
Please start at the beginning and tell us how things happened. There are many that are here and want to help, but you have given us very limited information and then ASSUME we know the rest, which we do not until you tell us.

·1 week agoSo you're voluntarily giving up almost two thousand dollars, that's very nice of you.
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoI’m not giving up anything. I’m taking them to small claims courts. I’ve contacted consumer affairs insurance division of consumer affairs my state attorneys office, the Better Business Bureau and the state attorneys office and they’re all helping me to sue the shit out of them.
broto_64
·1 week agoThis is UPS you are suing, don't forget to come back here and update us on how you actually collected the funds because they won't even show up for court so you'll "win" by default... The issue however is in actually collecting.

Since a case was opened, you need to refund through the case.
Go to the case and in the dropdown, there should be a "refund" button.
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoThere is no refund but OK because it’s a high value item no refund button. I’ve been on the phone with them for two hours. They’re reviewing it. They said after lying to me and saying that they were gonna refund it yesterday just trying to refund my customer I think the stamp book was cursed. It’s been an ongoing out for 60 days since I sold that item 60 days.

·1 week agoWhy is your assumption that someone lied to you, and not that there was an error, or that it's still processing, or any number of other reasons?
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoBecause they told me that they did the refund in the next day it didn’t happen and then I called back and they said they have no record of that and then they hung up on me. I was not rude mean or used any profanity in any way.

·1 week agoHow long has the request been open? It's possible it timed out if neither party took action for x days (not sure the limit). Also if the buyer opens a claim with their payment source, you will not be able to refund through the original eBay request and will have to wait for that to play out.
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoI know why because they are going to loose their 13%. These companies gain interest on the money they earn and delay as long as possible.

·1 week agoExactly how do you know that UPS was the culprit?
micwe-7188
OP1 week agoCause when I saw the driver the next day, I told him it was a high value item and then I could go pick it up. It was not there. It never been there at the pick up location the UPS hub. I don’t have customer service desks anymore for this reason it had RF ID on it a tracking locator and they couldn’t locate it because someone stole it. That’s why.

·1 week agoWhile $1700 is a lot of money, the chances of it being stolen is pretty low. Stamps are very difficult to fence since they have a small, wide spread and very specialized collector base.
I have been unable to sell philatelic items in local stamp club auctions that sold within hours on eBay, and had eBay items up for years before selling at a stamp show ( 40 years with a B&M shop. Member of APS , CSDA,RPS)

·1 week agoI don't understand what you've written.
"I told him it was a high value item and then I could go pick it up. It was not there" What does this mean?
