Refund problems
I need help.
I was informed just hours ago of a sale of a poster to a buyer in Austria
Purchase price was $68.00
Shipping charge 24.50
VAT 18.49
BUYER PAID 110.99
I then checked for Ebay shipping label online - Cost $29.00
This was the quote - I NEVER PRINTED THE LABEL - so WHY was i charged for it?
Had to purchase several items to wrap the poster professionally
On my return....I realized that while I had changed the dimensions of the package (18X24X1) I omitted to change the weight from several ounces to 3 pounds. I almost fell over when the label cost changed to $74.
Obviously, I had no choice but to cancel the order, which I did, with a full explanation and apology to the buyer. In order to pay the $74 I would have to have paid just over $30 of my own money PLUS lose the item additionally. Thus I refunded the buyer the full $92.50 - Ebay would have to refund the VAT as (a) I had no responsibility to do so......they received it, not me.
I then received an email from eBay saying "Full refund pending" Which leaves YOU owing us $77. How do you want to pay this? $77 FOR WHAT?
(a) I have received nothing ( I have received confirmation that the refund has been made)
(b) How can I owe anything if the original payment to eBay by the buyer has been refunded in full (which incidentally eBay now describes as a 'partial refund' ??. What else can I do but refund what he PAID for the item + the original shipping cost I quoted)
What am I missing here?

·6 months agoRefund money comes from 1 of 2 places.
Did you have any 'pending' money shown in the payments tab before you refunded?
If not, then that refund made your 'pending' NEGATIVE and that's what they want payment for.

·6 months agoUntil the funds clear, which probably takes a day, you don't have the funds available in your account for the refund. So they look to your backup source of funds. (It looks like you had about $15 of available funds to put toward the refund.)
What was the reason you chose for the cancellation?
