Recommendations on handling a Return Request
Summary: adkinsc is seeking advice on handling a return request for bike tires sold on eBay. The buyer claims the tires arrived damaged, but now reveals they are in the Dominican Republic and cannot return them from there. adkinsc already issued a return label for a Miami address and is considering involving eBay for further assistance. fullers_uk responds, suggesting that adkinsc is only responsible for the return from Miami and that the buyer should resolve their shipping issue.
I recently sold a pair of bike tires to a buyer with a Miami, FL shipping address, and his profile says he is in the United States. When he received the tires, he claimed they arrived damaged, and that one tire was "crooked" when on his bike. I asked him to check the mounting, because I had the tires mounted briefly on my bike rims and there was no issue with the tires, they rolled true on my rims.
After some back and forth, he asked for a return, which I agreed to, and created a USPS return label through ebay.
The next day, he sends the following message:
"I have a problem with the return. Right now I'm in the Dominican Republic at my family's house and when I'm here I always order the purchases so that they arrive at a Courier address in Miami and they bring it to me in the Dominican Republic. Right now I'm in the Courier and they tell me that they don't make returns and that for me is uphill because the tires are damaged and I need to return it to your destination. What can we do in that case?"
I'm looking for opinions on how I should proceed?
Should I ask ebay to get involved?

·3 weeks agoThis is the same dude that ordered something from me and lived in the DR lol. I shipped it to Miami to a freight company without realizing it. He than proceeds to tell me the package is late and it never showed up. I spoke to USPS, they said it left the country via freight forwarding freight company BM Cargo. He violated ebays buyer agreement. He opened a case against me, I called ebay and said "Per eBay policy, using a freight forwarder voids the eBay Money Back Guarantee. Since they have officially admitted to using one, can you please close this case in my favor and release my held funds?" The agent put me on hold to review our chat where he clearly states he is in the DR using a USA freight company BM-Cargo to ship his goods to the DR. The agent closed the case, released my funds and said to bad so sad the buyer. I suggest you do the same.

·3 weeks agoYou are not responsible to pay the return from the Dominican republic, your liability is return from Miami, the buyer will have to figure it out, as long as you have issued a return label through ebay it should be fine, it will just time out unused and job done.
