Recent listings not showing up in search results or in my store
I've been selling on eBay for well over a decade and I'm a Top Rated seller. Recently (last week and this week), my listings have been getting zero views, no offers, sales are down, etc. I decided to search for some of my own most recent listings on eBay and they are nowhere to be found, even when I sort by newest first. I have promoted listings on all of my listings. One new listing that I posted today showed up in search results for about an hour or so, and now it's gone again. These particular listings also do not show up when I search within my own eBay store. The only place it's visible is under my Active listings.
Is anybody else dealing with this issue? I personally have not experienced this before.

·5 months agoHaving the same problem. I listed several lots of literature and do a search for those exact keywords every day to buy inventory. Low and behold over 24 hours later many are still not showing up in the search with the exact key words in the title. No wonder sales have tanked. People can't even see what I'm selling. This is getting ridiculous. I sell by no reserve auction so if just one person sees it, there is no competition and the item sells, then the inventory is gone.
This is vintage inventory that I can't easily replace.
What's up ebay?

OP5 months agoSame here, glad to know I'm not alone. For the past week or so, my listing views and best offers have been almost non-existent and sales are way down. I figured something was up and much to my surprise, some of my listings weren't even showing up in search results. It's no wonder we aren't selling anything because customers can't find the listings. It makes me question why I even pay to have promoted listings. Sorry to hear you're dealing with this, too! It's incredibly frustrating.

·5 months agoI would contact ebay right away.
Let them know your views and sales are way down.

·5 months agoI had this happening a bit before ebay on facebook was pulled and when I talked with them about it hey assured me its normal for your items to NOT show up when searching because they didn't want to seeing your own items, or something along those lines. Which is a big deal for me because if I cannot search my own items effectively for checking my own inventory. I was even searching my o wn store specifically and search wasn't pulling certain items up. If I had two items with two part numbers in the title for example...........
Whirlpool Washer Agitator WP123 & WP789
If I searched Whirlpool WP123 it would pull up listing #1 that had that title but not the second. If I typed in Whirlpool WP789 it would pull up the second and not the first. Sometimes I would search a key phrase such as Whirlpool Agitator and it wouldn't pull anything up or only some of the items leaving out a few.
I had two different people at the time attempt to replicate it for me on their accounts and it was the same thing even though ebay confirmed they could pull them up on their end but they were searching it by item number or the entire exact title so of course it would show up.
Its obvious their search is broken and doesn't work properly all the time if ever. Shouldn't have to sort lowest to highest to get it to remove 90% of the listings that have nothing to do with what you searched. Its why many buyers in what I sell end up buying the wrong item accidentally. They'll search Whirlpool Washer Latch WP1234 and the results will pull that up as well as Whirlpool Washer Latch WP4567, they won't pay close enough attention because the items cosmetically look almost identical and are upset when they get the wrong item and blame the seller for sending the "wrong" part.
I feel bad for anyone that is running regular auction style listings. Great for buyers to get good deals though.

·5 months agoI'm able to view this item properly. Have you tried in another browser, perhaps deleting your cache and cookies as well?

OP5 months agoUnfortunately, it's the same on the mobile app, laptop, and different browsers. 😞

·5 months agoIf you give us specific items and specific search terms that you think should find them, we can help you figure out why those terms are not finding the item. But without those examples, we cannot diagnose your issue.
95% of the time there is a logical explanation or a misunderstanding of how eBay works.

OP5 months agoI hope I can post a link here. This is one of the main listings that I'm experiencing problems with. It appears, disappears, appears, disappears, and so on. https://www.ebay.com/itm/236708762739

·5 months agoWhen I found it in search (which I did, using North Face Black Quilted Zip Up that listing has a listing time of today at 00:45.
That listing is less that 12 hours old, and eBay search indexing can take up to 24 hours.
Unless it is not visible at this time tomorrow, it is too soon to worry.

OP5 months agoIs anyone able to view The North Face black quilted hoodie jacket in my store? That's one of the main listings that I've been having problems with. It appears and then disappears.

·5 months agoI just scrolled through your listings and do not see that item.
pacific_rose_resale
OP5 months agoThat is so odd. Under my Active listings, it says 144 items. When I click on my profile where you can search within my store, it says 143 items. The missing listing must be The North Face hoodie jacket.

·5 months agoThe people on this board are other selelrs who volunteer their time to help other sellers.
Giving us the item number rather than a vague description will give us better information, and make it more likely that more sellers will try to help you.
Scavenger hunts are time consuming, especially when the claim is that the item cannot be found.

OP5 months agoeBay item number: 236708762739
I tried to search for it using the Advanced Search by item number and it's not showing up that way either.

·5 months agoI did some searching and apparently (per Grok) Ebay has been steadily shifting its search algorithm (called Cassini) to favor Promoted Listings, making it harder for non-promoted items to appear near the top of search results.

·5 months agoI've done some searching and found that even though you do not promote your listings they are still fully searchable.

·5 months agoDo me a favor. Type in Bionicle 8614 and see if you see my listing.
Type in Bionicle 8593 and see if you see that one.
Two people have told me they dont see it.

OP5 months agoBoth of your listings showed up for me. I searched within your store.

·5 months agoAccording to your listing, you recently changed the description once and the title twice.
Each time you do that the listing has to re-index and wont be searchable for a while.
I'll try it again in a few hours.
I just tried it again.
It came back with about 10 results.
Your listing (with the blue background) was the first.
Anything else?

OP5 months agoThis whole situation has me wondering if or how many of my older listings aren't showing up in search results either...

·5 months agoThat's^ pretty weird.
When you say "these particular listings" -were any of those shown by christwork's screenshots?

OP5 months agoThe pair of Roper brand shoes initially did not show up when I listed them yesterday. I ended the listing and moved the words around in the title, re-listed, and now that particular listing seems to be showing up. I re-listed a jacket a couple of days ago. It never showed up in search results or while searching within my store. I did the same thing and ended the listing today, tweaked the title a bit, and re-listed. It showed up in search results for about an hour or so and then it disappeared again. It's very strange.

·5 months ago@pacific_rose_resale I randomly picked a handful of your items and checked to see if they came up in search.
As you see, I had no problem finding your things, including a sponsored listing (I did not click on it because I did not want to generate an ad view for you.)
I would not stress or obesses over this right now. Listings are not guaranteed to appear in every search, whether promoted or not.
I also checked a couple of your things in Google search. They came up. This listing (
