Re selling a one off item to a specific buyer
Hi, I used to sell a specific item and had a listing and made a lot of sales.
Then competition and pricing was a race to the bottom so I gave up on that item.
I kept two items for myself in case I ever needed a spare though.
A previous customer sent me a message through ebay as he wants to buy 1 more item.
I am prepared to sell him one but if I create a listing someone else could buy it before he does.
So can I sell something within ebay but without making a listing ie send him an ebay invoice or similar to effect the sale?
I am confident a mechanism exists or you can advise me how to proceed without going to the trouble of making a listing etc for a one off few dollar sale.
Thanking you in advance for any help you can offer. Cheers Mike

And what would be the harm in that? 🙂
Tell him you will create the listing on a specific time on a specific day, and that you will send him a link when you do. He should have plenty of time to buy it before it is indexed and available to others.
Just tell him that he had better be quick!

OP3 years agoHi lucky, thanks for the reply, I used Sol’s solution of setting a very high price but accepting a low offer from the prospective buyer.

·3 years agoSuggest you list with Best Offer and a ridiculously high price.
Notify that buyer of the item #. He makes the offer at whatever price you and he have agreed upon. You accept his offer. He pays. You ship.

OP3 years agoHi Sol, thanks for your reply, this is the method I used and it worked a treat. I listed a $15 item for $500 and did not set a minimum offer but in a way I feel bad cause if someone had offered me more than $50 I would have sold it to them lol

·3 years agoYou asked about a listing you wanted to sell to a specific buyer.
I assumed that meant you would be happy with the price he wanted to pay.
If you were not happy with that, then I'm not sure why you wanted help to make sure that buyer was able to make the purchase.
