Re-listed listings break images if the original listing images came from 3rd pty host & images gone
I know I come here logging into the communities forum only if I have something to complain about.
That is the stand of things unfortunately. So here is another one.
If item is relisted, Ebay image hosting does not load the existing images if the original images where loaded from a 3rd party host and that host is no longer hosting them.
I use temporary host for my images before my Ebay listings are uploaded via a CSV file. So the CSV has URL links to the images stored on a host server but that storage is temporary only. I used to use Google Drive and Dropbox but it's not very reliable to use them and they also started to block this because neither of these want to become host for 3rd party sites. I use another host right now. I know there is Cloudinary which is a great host but it causes me extra work so I keep using the other temporary host which only stores images for a short time before they are deleted. That works fine because I upload the listings via CSV, ebay cashes images. After I publish the listings, the images are hosted by Ebay (maybe they are not hosted but they are at least cashing them). So once the images are gone from my temporary host, it doesn't matter because listings are live and images are cashed on Ebay server.
The issue is when I re-list listings that have sold, or list a similar item, same thing.
Altough the sold listing still shows the images because they are cashed, if I go to re-list the listing (or sell similar), ebay attempts to load the images from the 3rd party host, instead of using the existing pictures which are already showing with the sold listing.
So unless there is a legal perspective to this, it doesn't make sense. Why is ebay re- loading from 3rd party server when the images are already on ebay server.
That results in broken images. So if I go ahead and re-list the listing, it doesn't show any images, only shows broken image placeholders and the live listing says, there is a problem with gallery image.
That makes me to go extra work to edit the listing to upload images to fix it.

Another excellent reason not to use other people's images, even if they don't pursue you for copyright infringement.

I am having the same issue... losing 100s of hours of photography work!! I've reached out to eBay CS 4 times in the past 6 months. No response from IT. They just close the ticket it seems.

When I click Relist, the image paths change to the 3rd party and the photo paths no longer work. Can't eBay just save the images or keep the current photo link path? Photos show just fine in "Ended". The links are corrupted in "Relist" (and are gone forever if published).
Please help!!! I experimented with Listing Mirror... but many other eBay listing services do the same thing (host the photos). Path seems to be broken during eBay's process.
