Rating affected by neutral feedback
For the life of me, I could not figure out why my seller rating went to 99.4%. I have been a Top Rated Seller since 2000. I have one negative feedback and 3 neutrals. I thought the neutral feedbacks did not count against your feedback rating…BUT THEY DO! They are calculated just like they were a negative feedback. This is not ok. Anyone else that was clueless like me?

198 divided by 199 = 0.9949748744 same as 99.49748744% and shortened toto one decimal point would be 99.4%%
eBay is spot on again
they included the 3 neutrals your % age would be lower
i.e.198 divided by 202 = 0.9801980198 or 98.0%

First of all, 99.497...% would round up to 99.5%.
But mostly, as shown multiple times in this thread, their feedback percentage is not based on all 198 of their positive feedback, but on only 171 of them due to multiple purchases in one week by one member. This image is from the OP's feedback profile page:

·1 year agoDepends on what county one lives in or is in. Two examples that am very familiar were: the French they round up the 0 being the first digit; the Japanese round down if the digit is an odd number, up if it is an even. Did work for a French owned company and two Japanese companies and had dodo tons of metric system to Imperial conversions. And some folks in the the USA say don't bother rounding up or down when it becomes it becomes spurious accuracy (aka useless in formation). A 1/10 of 1 percent ain't much on your FB report card in my book Became familiar with that term in my several of my college courses. So that's at least 4 ways a percentage can be stated.
All this is meaningless as the OP problem as initially clearly stated she believes eBay has added the 3 Neutrals to her My Bads (total of 4 neg) which would have further lowered her FB rating.
BTW : Redundancy is not forbidden on this discussion board. As I see, it can signal more than one some folk are singing out of the same choir book = No man or woman is an island.

·1 year agoWill do what I wish to - no eBay rules broken - I merely stated facts that I have experienced over the almost 8 decades being on this planet - sometime in 2024 the almost wile be a fact - "God Willing and The Creek Don't Rise" John Wayne "The Greene Berets" 1968 - same year I took & passed a physical for induction for a 2 year paid vacation courtesy of Uncle Sam with a promise of 3 hots & a cot - the hot part was optional.
What others do know the time I started my post compared to the time submitted are two different times. Am awake and having coffee by 2:30 AM ET. Reviewed postings replies to the OPs commentary didn't see many responses so I decided to respond with a bit of humor. After some time & on my second & last cup of java I finished and submitted.
You're free to have your pig story too. To each there own EH?

·1 year agoI would say listen to what volunteers are telling you here. Eventually that negative will go away and you will be back at 100%.

·1 year ago@jg.mason Neutrals are not used in the calculation for a sellers fb percentage. Haven't you read the little information available for all sellers under the icon right of were it gives you the percentage. An icon with a "i" and a circle around it means there is information available if you click the icon. It will say something similar to the following:

·1 year agoSame happened to me, You have less feedback now then 12 months ago, That is why your % went down, Most of us have less because sales have not been great this year for the most part, Hang in there!

·1 year agoThe fortunate thing for the OP is that the negative will fall off soon because it will be over 12 months old.

·1 year agoWhile they don't count the neutrals do have a tiny effect. In that the three neutrals mean there is three less positives to counteract the negative.

·1 year agoOr...... they could also have been 3 negatives bringing down the % by a lot more.
Neutral is neutral...... not positive or negative.
Neutrals are not used in the calculations for %.

It's not the neutral feedback that's affecting your feedback score.
It's the neg you received within the last 12 months.

OP1 year agoHi~ I only have one negative feedback and hundreds of positive feedback ratings for the past 12 months. I received 3 neutral feedback ratings in the past 12 months…sigh. I spoke to an agent and we went through the math together. The neutral feedbacks count as a negative when calculating the feedback percentage. I was extremely upset and confused. I asked why it is vague and misleading as neutral feedback ratings are not supposed to count for or against our score. The eBay representative said the neutral feedback does not “show up†as a negative to potential buyers but it IS calculated in the overall rating as a “non positive feedbackâ€.

·1 year agoDid you click on the tiny symbol beside your percentage that shows the math? This was explained in the earlier posts. The eBay rep is flat out wrong and asking them just about anything is a waste of time.

·1 year agoThe agent is mistaken. Neutral feedback does not affect your percentage. Your feedback percentage is based on just your positives and negatives.
Here is the breakdown for your score, since you overlooked it when it was posted above. You have received 198 positive, but only 171 count because the rest are multiple feedback from one buyer for transactions within the same week (which eBay measures as Monday through Sunday).

The EXACT way Ebay calculates feedback percentages have been posted on this thread several times. A couple were by me. And ANYONE can see it on their own feedback page if they click on the icon that follows the line that tells your feedback rate / percentage.

·1 year agoYour feedback percentage got lower because you have less feedback now than you had before. Right now you have 199 feedback in the last 12 months but say 4 months ago you might have had 250 feedback in the last 12 months.
Your feedback percentage is based on the last 12 months of feedback.

·1 year agoHave you ever taken a moment to look how your feedback rating is calculated? Whenever you see an icon that is a "i" with a circle around it, it is for information. There is one that follows your Feedback Rating. If you click on it, it will tell you the following.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
It looks like the negative will be falling off soon, so you will be back to 100% as neutrals don't count.

·1 year agoFeedback percentage is not based on the full number of positives received. As has been illustrated at least 3 times in this thread, eBay does not count multiple feedback received from any individual buyer for multiple transactions within the same week. So in this case the OP's percentage is based on 171 positive feedback.
