·1 year agoI sell home goods and toys. Summer is usually a slower time but sales have been up this month and usually keep a steady stream coming in. It is a bit spotty and chalk that up to everything going on lately. Overseas sales have almost dried up. I'd say that's where our deficit is for this year. I get it, with the tariffs and wars.
Sales are down 18.9% vs same time last year. This has definately been a struggle this year. It also seems like every time Ebay makes changes, sales drastically drop for a few days then pick back up. One day I will have $400 in sales then $0 the next day. Doesn't matter what you throw at it. Sales, Coupons, Offers, etc.. Then the next day you find out something else has changed on the website.
Not saying I'm not doing good, but I do have to work alot harder to make those sales happen. I do see a pattern if I list more then 5 items a day then orders come in and it's not for the items I just listed. Strange to say the least, but I'll take it. I have a brick and mortor store also so sometimes I don't get around to listing everyday. That's how I noticed the pattern. It's like you have to figure out the algorithm. Not sure if everyone sees what i do.
Been playing around with all the sales features such as Coupons, Offers, and Store Newsletters. Trying to see what days and times work best. Playing wack-a-mole to see what works. By the time you have it figured out then they change things up again and you have to start over again. Just wish they would at least leave it alone for a few months. I hope by the holiday buying season. That would be a great Christmas present for Sellers.

·1 year agoI am up 5.4 percent year over year. However The first 3 months of this year were the worst I ever had. I was overstuffed with bad merchandise, I listed little, sold little, and spent most of my work time cleaning and consolidating.
April-June this year I am up 45 percent versus same time period last year.
I attribute a lot of this to a very simple change in my sourcing mindset at the goodwill outlet. I don't put it in the cart unless I think it is at least a $10 item. Then when I price check everything at the end I throw back everything that doesn't end up being at least a $5 item (threshhold can go much higher based on item weight). This has caused a huge increase in my average sale price. The reason I still keep the $5 items is because I already did 1/3rd of the work on the item (finding, price checking, hitting sell one like this so I can put the price in right there).

·1 year agoIt's been difficult. I had stopped buying entirely on January 1st working on
closing things down because 25 years selling on ebay is long enough.
Anyway, My sales have been trending downward (For whatever reason)
I have a $$ goal month to month
For 2025 January 112% of my goal
February 115% of my goal
March 98% of my goal
April 80% of my goal
May 80% of my goal
June 77% of my goal
So since the 1st of January I'm seeing about a 31% drop in sales
That's not just stamps, That's everything on 3 accounts.
I also made about 200 new listings last week and have yet to see
any increase in views or purchases.

·1 year agoChugging along here - it's hard to compare years since I no longer live in the US full time and so close up shop during that time. Agree with @christworks to be consistent in engagement - it's a big metric on any sales platform.

·1 year agoI sell primarily collectibles and my June was up 48.1% over last June. I attribute a large part of that to the simple fact that I've gotten far more discerning with my sourcing-- these days I do my research to see which shows are trending and focus on winning prizes from those series. As a result, my crane game prizes now tend to turn over much more quickly than they did when I was just winning anything and everything, and I tend to get better prices because I'm selling stuff that has more demand.

·1 year agoOur sales are up from last year. June slumped but was almost identical to last year. We sell in several categories: clothes, books, toys, collectibles to name a few... If sales continue as they have I expect us to be up 10-20% from last year. The key for us continues to be diversify and keep learning. Been running a coupon this year that lasts for 2 weeks, then I run another. It has helped a lot!

·1 year agoI sell fishing items, 1st quarter I was down 46% to prior year, year to date, I'm down 33% but gaining a little ground. Yards sales are pretty much done now that springs over and the one flea market dries up with the heat. Have to see how it goes and see how the USPS rate increase on the 13th effects my sales, have to raise shipping $.50 for anything under 12 oz.

·1 year agoI'm an 'everything' seller. I started back selling part-time in January 2023. I was still doing other work and did not invent a significant amount of time into eBay. Still, I was happy with my Q4 2023 sales and thought that if I did only eBay and really ramped up my store, I could make more money without having to travel routes on the other work I did. I'll also note that for several years I've been working part-time because I care for my elderly mother who has dementia and help care for another sick family member.
Another thing to keep in mind as you read my numbers is that I grew my store from about 50 items two years ago to 600 by October 2024. Though I listed in Q4 2024, the amount of items I listed didn't out pace how much I sold, so my inventory dropped to about 450 items at the end of the year. Since January I've been able to grow from that 450 number to 1,000. I also am sourcing better. I've made connections. For instance, for two days last month I was allowed to privately pick an estate sale before it was opened to the public. So when you see my numbers, just know it has taken a lot of work behind the scenes to get them there.

January 1-June 30 2025 vs January 1-June 30 2024

While buying habits do change based on the season and the economy, I've found the trick is to follow your buyer. That is much harder to do when you are niched down, which is why if I were to ever do that, I would niche down to something that appeals to a broader audience. Selling stamps may get you a bunch of repeat customers, but if people aren't spending money on their hobby because they have to take their family of 5 to Disney World for two weeks, then your sales are going to hurt.
I am firm believer in listing something every day. Doesn't matter if it is 3 things or 10 things. Just get something on there. Show eBay you are engaged with your store. It just makes sense. A seller who is engaged with their store is far more likely to be there for their customers if an issue arises. Someone who isn't engaged with their store probably won't be there for their customer when USPS damages their package or when they've messed up and sent the wrong item.
Don't lose heart. Don't give up. Adapt. Adjust. Re-evaluate. Take chances. Pivot, if needed. Most importantly, take responsibility.

·1 year agoMine are about the same, maybe a little up. But summer months are my slowest time of the year historically. And August is typically my worst month. My highest months are usually January and February of each year. My sales usually really go up after Christmas.

·1 year agoI sell mostly sports cards, sales for the first 6 months of 2025 compared to 2024 are up 21%. Sales for June 2025 compared to June 2024 are up 318%, appears I had a great start to the month but then went on vacation and have been slacking in getting new cards listed for the end of June.
Overall I've been somewhat surprised how well the sports cards market has been doing but I'll take the results. Have way too much inventory to get rid of and not enough time to list.

·1 year agoThe more a seller works on their account...the more the seller will make.
I have been putting more of an effort in working on my account thus an increase in sales this year.
But I find it very time consuming and sometimes I like my free time and do goof off a lot.
Got tons to list but there are those beer drinking nights that hamper me listing more items for sale sometimes.
I say the more effort you put into selling the more you will receive in profits.
I don't find the economy does anything in my sales.
Mission statement: repeat buyers.

·1 year ago@worldwide_ship I sell in your category. Quarter over quarter, year over year, sales are about the same. I do a 2% PL on all listings. No more than that.
My sales are down right now over the last 90 days because I have not been listing new items to back up my existing 1400 listings.
IF I get a load of inventory to list to back up the existing listings, sales will be back to normal for the following quarter.
I have been focusing on personal endeavors such as entertaining family and chasing grandchildren around. Those rascals are very time consuming. Just finished a 4 nighter and in the recovery room, so to speak, at this time....lol.
Won't be working the business much other than shipping orders. Sales will continue to be down from the previous quarter.

·1 year agoMostly books. June sales were up 8.2% over last June, first half of the year is up 17.9% over the first half of last year.
The increase over a few years ago is staggering, though. We're selling nearly 5 times as much as we did in 2020, which of course was a big year for online shopping. We made some changes during that period, so I don't generally compare much with the years before that, but the difference is far greater when I compare to 2019 or earlier.

·1 year agoI sell mostly antiques & collectibles. For some reason, my sales stay pretty much the same, based on a yearly total, and have for several years now. The only thing that has changed is that I sell more less expensive items than I used to, so I have to sell more quantity to equal the same dollars.
my-cottage-books-and-antiques
·1 year agoComparing the first half of 2025 to the first half of 2024, I'm up, 30 some per cent.
But I am a very small seller of long tail, single quantity used and vintage items, so I don't really think this means much in my case. A few more higher dollar sales in 2024, or a few less in 2025, and the percentage would probably look very different.
So, I don't really draw any big conclusions from my stats, either about the overall economy or my business.

·1 year agoWe sell clothing and vintage items, and our sales have been lower since November. There has been a shift in the economy, as well as a change in our experience with eBay shopping. Hopefully, the second half will be better.
Best wishes;
