Question regarding shipping a lot valued over $1,500 via UPS
I need to ship a high-value item via UPS. Is it sufficient to simply purchase a standard shipping label on eBay, or do I need to pay for additional options, such as insurance or a signature requirement? Thx.

·4 months agoIn addition to the other fine advice you have received, please make sure that:
A. The item/s you seek to insure are covered under the terms of the insurance policy
B. You pack the item to exceed any insurer requirements as relates to packaging
Best of luck with shop & sales.

·4 months agoYou should absolutely insurance it for full value and put signature confirmation on it. $1500 is a serious amount of money and a serious risk for a seller. For expensive items, a seller should always "ship defensively".
You have to put signature confirmation on $750 and over, but even if it wasn't required by eBay, it would be bonkers to not do it. You can purchase both on eBay.
You might want to purchase the UPS on Pirate Ship instead (you can purchase insurance and signature confirmation there) if you are shipping a very large package. If UPS burns you with a false shipping adjustment, it is much easier to get that resolved through Pirate Ship than eBay.

·4 months agoBe sure to check any special insurance limitations which may apply to the type of item you are shipping.
There are limits which can be as low as $0.

·4 months agoYou definitely need Signature Required. To qualify for the limited Seller Protection eBay offers you must get a signature for any order valued at $750 or more (includes shipping & Sales Tax).
As far as insurance, that depends on your risk tolerance. If eBay offers third-party insurance (ShipCover) go that route over carrier insurance. It would cost you less and there are fewer issues getting a payout.

OP4 months agoWhen purchasing a UPS label on eBay, a message appears stating that the "Recipient Signature Required" option will be added automatically. Is this true?

I don't print any labels from eBay but yes, I have heard that eBay auto-selects Signature for high value shipment. Just make sure it is checked before you commit on the label.
