Question re cancelled unpaid sales on 1099 vs sales totals
I can't remember - does ebay include unpaid cancelled sales in the 1099? I think from memory they have to be paid to be included, then you deduct the amount of the cancellations on your returns, right?
But what about cancels that were never paid? Like a RQT or an auction that a buyer bails on.
Does ebay include them in your sales totals or act like the sale never happened?
Obviously don't have the 1099s yet (that's if I even GET one this year the way Q4 went).
Just trying to reconcile MY sales figures to what ebay is showing me and that's the only discrepancy I can come up with.

·8 months agoWhy not just use EBAY sales reports and save yourself a lot of headaches. EBAY has "easy to read" 1-page report that shows YTD totals for (orders, refunds, EBAY fees, shipping expense). Go to Payments, Reports (select Last Year and 2025).
ORDERS
-Refunds
-EBAY fees
-Shipping expense
-Misc. expense (cost of goods, packing supplies, office supplies, mileage, etc)

·8 months agoBest to keep own records for taxes and not rely on reports generated from eBay
Only the seller will know (from records) true numbers for COG and expenditures

OP8 months agoI understand that for the 1099, but what I want to know is if ebay includes that unpaid amount in the 'sales total' they show on the hub.
and to @caldreamer no way would I ever just trust the ebay reports (or from any other venue for that matter) without having my own records to verify against.

OP8 months agoOk thanks. I had a feeling they didn't now.
I know they USED to include ANY sales, paid or otherwise in the 'sales totals' before managed payments came along.
I guess I'll just start separating those unpaid cancels & deadbeats onto another worksheet just for my own inventory records. I like to keep track of them paid or not so I make sure they got added back to qty available (or relisted if singles as ebay doesn't relist singles if you use OOS apparently).
