Question about number of items sold shown in a listing
In some listings with multiple items, it indicates how many have sold over time. Is that number for the entire period that listing has been active, or a certain time period. I ask AI the same question, and it said it is a 30 day moving time period that updates daily dropping the sales for the last day and adding the new day. This supposedly happens every day. Is that correct?

·8 months agoNo. That description of a sliding 30-day window fits the View Counter, not the Sale Counter.
In the past, the Views count simply incremented indefinitely from Day One of the listing, but more recently has been revised to count only those Views occurring within the most recent 30 days, dropping older ones from the running total.
Conversely, the Sale Counter shows how many sales have occurred, in total, all the way back to when the listing was first started.

·8 months agoThe answer to this question has changed with the introduction of the Out Of Stock feature on eBay, whenever that was (within the past few years but over a year I think). Before that, if you listed a quantity of 10, and 5 sold, and you added 10 more, it would retain those 5 sold and add to that as any of the now 15 available sold, and so on, as long as you kept the quantity at 1 or more at all times. If you sold out at any point, though, and then added more (even if it was a mistake and you relisted it with 10 more within a minute), it was a new listing and the count started over.
With Out Of Stock enabled, the listing stays active and is simply hidden when the quantity reaches zero, so adding more makes it visible again and it retains the sold count from before. That will still be lost if it is ended and relisted, though.

Listing with multiples (total items sold is for entire duration your item was listed). No such thing as "only 30 day period".

·8 months agoOn a listing, it's the total for the listing.......however long it's been up.....

"On eBay, the "sold" number you see on multi-item listings represents the cumulative total for the entire period that specific listing ID has been active.
The information provided to you previously regarding a "30-day moving window" is incorrect for the primary sold count. Here is the accurate breakdown of how these numbers work:
Total Sold Count: The number displayed prominently on a listing (e.g., "543 sold") is an all-time tally. It remains as long as the listing is active or renewed as a "Good 'Til Canceled" (GTC) listing. Some high-volume sellers maintain listings for years, resulting in counts in the thousands."
