·1 year agoMy impression are down substantially but my click through rate is up, I read this as eBay not giving me as many useless Impressions because they are filling those slots with PL listings. On the positive side both my click-thru and conversion rates are up and my sales are steady even though Impression are way down
To get a feel for what the numbers mean one needs to consider more than just 1 factor (Impressions), more important is click thru rate and conversion rate.

·1 year agoHow do your sales compare with June/July 2024? 2023? 2022?
Do they normally drop in July?
Why does Amazon have their big sale days in July? Is it because their sales drop off then?
Are you adding new listings?
Are you using PL? I find that PL does bring moreViews but the PL items are not the ones selling. PL seems to bring eyeballs to my Store, and then the customer browses and buys other stuff. Which is great- I get the Views but not the higher fees.

·1 year agoI've had a significant decrease in sales and views the last two months. Seems to be more of internal issues with Ebay than other factors in my opinion. When my sales first starting declining the few that would trickle in were from Europe which made me question if my items were some how more visible overseas than within the US where I am based. As someone who has sold on here for 10+ years, the entire site functioned better 5-6+ years ago and sales were more consistent.

·1 year ago5-6 years ago was the Covid lockdown and everyone had cash and lots of free time, I couldn't imagine the stuff and volume I was selling. But I think this current slowdown isn't just a reversion to normal buying. I'd like to see insight into traffic and sales. We've pounded enough about the risk to sellers, maybe they've dwindled enough to not entice buyers to even look in the first place. Probably too many markets to cause that, but I think there are problems that aren't being addressed. BUT, other sites haven't seen any more activity either.

·1 year agoOur sales dropping to virtually 0 this summer but record highs on their stock. Hmmm. Something fishy in Denmark.

·1 year agoThings could be worse-
Like January 1 The Big Recession was on 1982 10.2%, unemployment, 30 year fix price mortgage rat 12% + and still rising, unemployment 85 bucks/week, my utility bill was $650 for Jan,
Here is why.
BTW I was laid off on Dec 16, 1981 after 14 years w/same company - moved south of the Mason Dixon Line in April, 1982. Lived in the Village of Frankfort, IL - south of Chi Town.

·1 year agoSo unfair and simply not based in knowledge of the program. PL works great for some sellers and not so much for others. This tool was never intended to work for everyone. It can't, imagine the chaos if every seller used it.
I respect that PL may not be right for you, I don't use it either, and many other sellers don't use it as well. However that does NOT make it wrong for those sellers that feel they are getting a benefit. It simply works better in certain categories than others, especially over saturated categories.
Calling people names is never the answer anyway.

·1 year agoThe only "benefit" I found is that my inventory actually gets shown to people. You know, like what used to happen when a buyer used ebay's search before the invention of PL's.

·1 year agoOK, but to suggest that sellers that use PL are the only ones that buyers are seeing is simply not truthful. It logically can't be because most sellers don't use the program.
But if you are saying that because you use PL you get more views, but not more sales, then it isn't working for you either. Views do not always = sales. And sales are what we all need to survive.

·1 year agoYou're not alone. All I can say is this is the worst "summer slowdown" I've experienced in years. We're quickly dropping into poverty territory. If this was a B&M store, we'd be hanging "going out of business" signs all over town.
The Algo is murdering my business.

I’ve noticed impressions drop off if I fall off my routine of listing daily, revising old listings, or as I’ve recently done, stop promoting. Impressions have fallen off a cliff since I’ve done this, as expected.
When I did promote, impressions would fall off if I lowered my percentage rate also.
Have you changed anything recently with your routine or how you’ve handled buyers requests?
