$$$ Processing times
Summary: beerman_1001 expressed frustration over an unusually long processing time for funds from a discounted sale that usually takes about 12 hours but was now over 24 hours. hartungcards mentioned that a 24-hour wait is typical for payouts and questioned beerman_1001's expectations. gone.c-33 suggested the delay might be due to the buyer's payment method and noted that full processing can take a few days. reallynicestamps added insight into eBay's standard payment processing practices and the potential impact of irregular sales patterns on processing times. Another participant, luckythewinner, shared their experience, agreeing that eBay isn’t ideal for quick fund access. gurlcat also noted similar slight delays in recent transactions.
Why would some orders take 24 hours+ to process???
I took a discounted offer, that I normally wouldn't have taken, because I needed some additional funds unexpectedly. I now find that those funds are taking (what I deem to be) an abnormally long time to become available to me. They are VISIBLE, but I can't access them, via a payout.
I am FAR FROM a new seller.
TIA.

·1 month ago · EditedI'm not 100% sure, but starting a few days ago I think I noticed it taking some amount of additional time to switch my most recent sales' 'Processing" to 'Available.' Ballpark guess: no more than maybe 6 added hours, and I'm not even certain there is an addition. But maybe you're not crazy?

·1 month ago · EditedI've been a seller here for 25+ years any all my sales take more that 24 hours to process. My funds are generally not available for payout until a couple days after the sale.
I have never found eBay to be a very good option when you need funds quickly.

The Sigma lens? It sold for about 10x your average sale , which might be the problem.
The robots will go on alert when a seller has a sale that is well out of the ordinary for them.
You also have a neg for another "camera" sale, but that's not likely to have been picked up by the robots.

·1 month agoOnce past the trial period , when eBay may put a Hold on payment transfers for up to 30 days pending customer satisfaction, the default for payment transfer is weekly on Tuesdays.
However, some sellers have reported that their banks are slow to accept the transfer and allow access to the funds.
Some busy sellers opt for daily payments, some occasional sellers for monthly, but the default is once a week on Tuesday.
Note however, that a payment made on Tuesday won't be transferred until the next Tuesday. And it seems with time zones and all some late Monday payments are not transferred until the following week either.

OP1 month ago · EditedNot sure what you mean by that. I sell via BIN mostly, people pay and I ship them their item(s). I don't know how everyone pays, because it has never come up or been an issue. Usually, the funds (if I had to guess) were available to be paid out to me in around 12 hours. We are at 24 hours + when I made the original post. The funds are VISIBLE, but I can't UTILIZE them.

·1 month ago · EditedNever once have my eBay funds from an electronic payment method of any kind been available in as little as 12 hours, and they're usually not available for payout for 24 hours. You can use your eBay funds to cover selling costs immediately, but if you're looking for an actual payout, 24 hours is normal. It's not at all clear what you mean when you say you can't UTILIZE the funds.

OP1 month agoFunds are there, but still be processed. IE, I can't access them and have them sent to my debit card. This was a substantial sale, and as I said, I sold it a great discount, just to get the funds ASAP.

·1 month agoThere might be an issue with the buyer’s payment source which causes the delay.
Would you rather eBay makes the payment available before processing is complete and claw it back if it fails later down the line?
beerman_1001
OP1 month agoNo, I'd rather be TOLD when the funds will be available. So I can PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

·1 month agoOnly the buyer’s credit card/payment provider knows that.
Some payments at my IRL job take up to 5 days to post, we don’t know why.
