PROBLEM SOLVED ON WHY THEY WAS NO USPS DISCOUNT ON PKG I JUST SHIPPED?
Summary: rosemary6525 expressed frustration about losing USPS discounts for shipping in rural areas, affecting their costs on eBay. They noted a higher USPS charge for certain locations and compared a 4oz package cost with FedEx, which only appears cheaper under specific conditions. toomuchstuffagain35 clarified that the USPS charges the 1-pound rate for packages sent to certain zip codes, and christworks shared a strategy of using Economy shipping to mitigate costs for rural addresses, finding success with this approach.
According to people who answered my post regarding a 4oz pkg of mine that EBAY offer ZERO USPS discount for, they are also seeing a $7.87 USPS charge for 4 oz packages Apparently for certain rural zip codes WE IS LOSING THE DISCOUNT EBAY had with USPS
That is what I infer , despite this last email about USPS rates did not specifically stating this.
"USPS is making rate adjustments that will mean lower shipping costs for select Ground Advantage and Priority Mail shipments. These changes do not apply to rural ZIP Codes." was in email
apparently that mean certain zip codes be cheaper but other MUCH higher AKA zero discount anyway a 4oz package was $1.20 cheaper FEDEX who may change the 10x6x4 dimensions to 10x6x40 then bill me extra $12
This also adds another NAIL IN THE COFFIN to the cheaper packages and why they will soon be all gone I charge $8 shipping on $8 item AIN'T nobody gonna buy it
My complaining done and my last individual fishing lure went out FEDEX If I am wrong about this, I would LUV to know Happy L-DAY

·1 month agoThere are many ways for sellers to charge or not charge for shipping. What has worked for me is that I use a flat rate, standard shipping set up in my business policies. In that way I get to choose by which method to ship that is the most economical. (Much like christworks has done as stated below)
I realize calculated shipping works well for most sellers.
All methods have some disadvantages.

·1 month ago@rosemary6525 I moved all packages 12oz and under to Economy shipping. (I do not give buyers a choice of carrier.) This way if a shipping address is from a rural zip code I can ship their order economy through FedEx->USPS. If the shipping address is not from a rural zip code, I can upgrade the buyer to Ground Advantage which is normally cheaper anyway.
So far this is working well.

·1 month agoIt's not that you've lost the discount (unless you're one of those sellers who ebay decided to change your retail calculated rates to the ebay discounted rate for buyers), but rather that USPS has now decided to charge the 1 pound rate for any size parcel under that (even 4 oz) if they are going to HI, AK or PR or to a rural lower 48 zipcode.
