Priority campaigns
Someone please explain how if I am listing a book for 11.99 ( ~$10.00 profit) and use a priority campaign to get my book listed on a google search, at the minimum $3.00 a day xs 30 days = $90.00 a month. How is this realistic as a seller? Would I have to pay $90.00 a month just to get my book listed on a google search. This seems unsustainable for single book sellers unless the buyers are in the know and initiate their search for the book on Ebay versus a google search.. Is there a better site to sell books on that would list the book on a google search? I remember when Ebay used to do that for free.

·8 months agoAgain, forget any promotions and just do the math. You bought a book for $2 and want to sell it for $12. Hopefully you don't offer free shipping. Assume the media mail shipping is $6 so the total + tax is ~ $20. On books you are paying at least $3 in fees so your profit isn't $10 but at best $7 on a $2 purchase. Unless you are selling hundreds of books is it really worth a $7 profit to source, list, package and deliver the package to the PO? I forgot to mention also hope that the book arrives as described, on-time and to the buyer's satisfaction.

·8 months agoPriority Campaigns do not get your book listed in Google Search. They get your book displayed in Google Ads. Big difference. Your listings will still be indexed by Google and show up in searches, assuming they fit the search criteria and rank high enough according to Google’s algorithm (a black box to us outsiders in many ways) to be displayed.

The only promotion I would try with that book would be a General Promoted Listing at 2% and you pay 2% of the total sale in addition to the regular Final Value Fee for books.
Or maybe you could do 10% PL?
Up to you.
I list networking parts for data centers etc. and everything has a part number. I make sure to note the part number in Item Specifics, the Title and Description. Last I checked, Google caches the listing after 3 or 4 weeks and it may start showing up in Google search.
The more clicks it gets, the more it moves up the ladder in search.
I don't now exactly how that might apply to books.
I imagine vendors also can pay Google to promote their items and be at the top.

·8 months agoPay Per Click Ads almost never make sense for sellers of one-off items. Pay-per-click ads can make sense in some cases for sellers of multi quantity items. And, in limited cases, it can make sense for very expensive items. But if you are selling one offs, you should not even be thinking about pay-per-click ads. They are not designed for what you sell.

If it is not realistic to pay $90 to make $10, then don't do it.
I remember when Ebay used to do that for free.
I have never promoted a single listing, and my listings appear in Google searches. I just searched a half-dozen to doublecheck.
