PRICE GOUGE
WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED TO SELL MY ITEMS (MASK) AT OR BELOW WHAT OTHE RPEOPLE ARE SELLING THEM FOR? IS IT BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE PRICE GOUGING? THAT SURE IS FAIR.

·2 years agoThe prices for masks have already tanked in the B&M world and many of those trying to sell them are trying to sell what they got for free.
Ineffective masks are out there as well.
Ebay has gated the sales of PPE for good reasons. Those who have qualified to sell masks are likely to sell masks which meet appropriate standards. And will probably have to charge more.
Ebay is protecting buyers by making life hard for sellers who take advantage of one time opportunities.

Just hang onto to them until the next pandemic. You'll be glad you did.

·2 years agoWe get them for free. I got a pile sitting somewhere. I didn't even know sellers were still selling them.
I do remember a while back where a lot of them coming from another country were fake and not approved for to even be given out to the hospitals after purchases.

·2 years agoIf masks were allowed to be sold here they would quickly drop to selling for pennies over shipping prices. Take however many boxes of surplus masks you think are out there and then multiply that by 100.
There are boxes and cases of unused masks all over the place from individual people's homes to businesses, to warehouses.
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoWith cases going back up, they probably won't be unused for long.

·2 years agoIf the otherwise never going to be sold ones come onto the market then it would tank the price. All those businesses with 10 or 20 cases in the back who likely won't ever be handing the things out again, people who stocked up whenever they could find them and now never use them.
kensgiftshop
·2 years agoNot sure about other places, but they are still being used around here.
I heard a hospital in New York (I think it was) was requiring them again.

If you aren't one of ebay's selected sellers, you really need to end your listing.

·2 years agoDIsposable masks are subject to the price gouging policy. Beginning in 2020 you had to be pre-approved to sell disposable face masks. Therefore, it really doesn't matter what price point you set. If you aren't approved then you are violating the eBay price gouging policy.

·2 years agoYou need to be approved by eBay to sell PPE no matter what the price. Contact them to start the process.

·2 years agoThey still restrict hand sanitizer (even purse pack size with the cute holders) even though it's now and has been for some time widely available everywhere.

eBay restricted the sale of masks when covid emerged, that restriction may still be in effect.
But that aside, eBay reserves the right to remove any listing for any reason. And eBay has no policy stating that they will be "fair" 🙂

·2 years agoeBay restricted the sale of masks when covid emerged? I don't think so. When I and thousands of others couldn't find masks in any stores after covid emerged unless you paid an astronomical price, we all bought plenty of masks of all different kinds right on eBay, some better quality than others. And as far as eBay putting an end to price gouging on masks or hand sanitizer or anything else that had to do with covid, they sure did take their sweet time in doing so.

When CV19 was happening there was a lot of price gouging as well as hording etc. so this site (eBay) stopped ALL sellers from selling until they were 'approved').
Nothing has changed at this sites end.
No approval
No Mask Sales

OP2 years agoYOU NEED APPROVAL TO SELL MASK TO PREVENT SAW DUST FROM GOING INTO YOUR NOSE OR MOUTH OR SPRAY-PAINTING FUMES?
iamalwaysright
·2 years agoYou don’t need to sell masks to prevent saw dust from going into your nose, you just need to buy masks. And you don’t need ebay approval to buy masks

·2 years agoi'm sure you REALLY know the story- but here goes:
The original 3M (N95) mask was sold in all Hardware stores for JUST those reasons.
When Covid hit, those masks were determined, by the CDC- to be THE ONE, THE BEST etc to use to keep out the cooties- but ALSO as they stated, there are MANY other masks that will do.
So, it's this sites prerogative to do what they want to do.
If they WON'T allow Socks to be sold, then nobody can sell Socks.
So, again-
no approval...
no mask sales.

·2 years agoThere is no such thing as price gouging unless in a state of emergency . If your town gets hit with a hurricane and you buy every jug of bottled water then ask $20 for a gallon then that is considered price gouging .
whorunbartertown
·2 years agoThe same thing happened to me. I have a box of masks collecting dust because eBay won't allow me to sell them. Nonsense.

If you feel these other sellers are price gauging you can always report them:

Good luck!
