Premium Store(s) and Free Listings Questions
I have a Premium Store Subscription, with 60,000 free listings a month. I've finally managed to fill the store to the 60,000 limit in the past month or so, and I'm realizing how inefficient some of the EBay subscriptions are.
To get more free listings in my current store, I would need to upgrade from Premium to Anchor, which goes from $60 a month to $300 a month. My free listings would go from 60,000 to 100,000, but for 5x the monthly cost.
However, EBay will allow me to create a second account and a second store, using the same seller Tax ID I use in my first store. I can then, again, sign up for a $60 a month store, get 60,000 more free listings, and I would have 120,000 free listings for $120 a month instead of 100,000 free listings for $300 a month. I realize an anchor store has more benefits than just more free listings, but the pricing seems extremely inefficient.
Why is it set up this way? It's a huge pain to create another store. Sellers have to build up their reputation again, it takes time to become top rated and get the discounts, there's business policies and shipping policies that need to be set up again, among many other things.
If I'm able to just start a second store for those prices, why can't I just buy say 60,000 listings ala carte for another $60 a month in my main store?
Is this just completely overlooked because most sellers don't sell 60,000+ items? Sports cards are admittedly different than most categories, but it's still frustrating.
And yes, I continuously am going through my listings and trying to remove things that aren't really selling, but with sports cards people will buy random cards all the time to finish sets, so it's difficult to pick and choose. I just don't understand the benefit to allowing me to create a second store for so much cheaper than upgrading my current store.

·1 year agoIn my stupid opinion you are not selling enough at 60,000 listings for a premium store...plus a lot of the items are rather on the low end side...but we tend to get our feedbacks from the cheapo items we sell.
You have to look at your profit margin to see if it's even worth its for a premium account.
You are even buying eBay shipping supplies which I think are expensive.
I buy my postage (forever stamps) at .50 ents each or lower. I buy my stamps from USA sellers on eBay.
And I get tape and envelopes super duper cheap...CVS
And my thin card board I use is free...if I told you where I get it a lot of people here would get mad at me so I rather not say it but...think 'outside the box'.
But you're on the right track selling mostly in the same category....where 'repeat buyers' become are best friends where we can trust never a problem with them and hope they buy something expensive once in a while. I have some repeat buyers who will buy something every 4 days or 1 item each day in 4 days...LOL
We have to offer cheapo items to attract buyers...and maybe get a great sale sometimes.
I have caught a few who would buy 40+ items at one time...love the sale hate the packing.
All right, enough of my stupid rant.
Good luck.

How do you determine those aren't counterfeit? I'd like to buy some, and I see them regularly on FB from US sellers, but I don't trust them. I can't imagine how legitimate ones could be obtained in order to sell cheaper & be still be able to make a profit. Maybe from an estate sale, but not in big numbers.🤔

·1 year agoI usually only buy from eBay USA auctions : US Stamp Postage...titles.
Have to be sellers who been around a whileand have a lot of feedbacks.
True stamp sellers.(Companies)
I buy big lots...sell what would make money from some stamps and use the other stamps for postage.
Not all are forever stamps but I can put them on an envelope totally .73. or 1.65 for International.
And I have gotten high face value stamps I can use to put on for tracking shipments. The $1.65 forever stamps I can get for $1.00 or less works great for me.

·1 year ago@cityslickercreations2004 These aren't listing limits, they are just free listings, so it's simply a pricing structure question. They presumably have the limits, since they could get an anchor store, but it just doesn't make financial sense.
Unfortunately OP, my answer is the same as @chapeau-noir .

·1 year agoI am confused. I thought opening another account to circumvent listing limits was against TOS. This would have been helpful to me at one point.
From ebay:
Are there circumstances when creating another account isn't allowed?
Registering new accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits, or other policy consequences, is not allowed on eBay.

·1 year agoMany of your listings are too inexpensive to generate the profit per sale other sellers have, and maximum profit for Ebay.
It is likely that Ebay never chose to consider the needs of high shallow inventory of the sort maintained by many sports card sellers.
Be thankful that Sports Cards is a select category for bonus listings. There are other categories like Entertainment Collectibles which are not.

OP1 year agoI am thankful that the sports cards category gets more free listings. I didn't realize we needed to shout thank you every time we asked a simple question. Thanks for the response though.

·1 year ago@erikscardsandgames The only thing I can think of is that after raising the free listings under the existing store categories ebay didn't feel there was enough demand to set up another level with its attendant maintenance. Believe me, if they thought that could be monetized, they would.

·1 year agoThis has been a complaint for years but eBay simply doesn't move on it. The work-around has been to start up a second store and yeah, it's a pain to get traction on it.
