Pre-owned clothing sellers
Summary: ten_o_nine discusses the challenges faced by pre-owned clothing sellers due to current global economic conditions. They predict that rising raw material costs and shipping fees will lead to increased retail prices, potentially driving more buyers towards secondhand options. lakefor94 shares personal reservations about buying used clothing but acknowledges the market's potential. ten_o_nine clarifies that 'pre-owned' does not always mean worn or used, offering a broader perspective on the term.
I’ve seen so many pre-owned clothing sellers venting about low sales, and it really is tough out there right now. But hang in there, because a shift is coming that is going to work in your favor.
Behind the scenes, global conflicts have driven up the cost of raw materials, polyester is up over 45% and cotton futures just hit a two year high. Combine that with crazy high shipping fees, retailers are facing cost pressures. They are going to have to raise their store prices soon.
That is where you come in. When mall prices skyrocket, shoppers usually go to secondhand. Because your inventory isn't tied to rising factory costs, you can offer the prices that buyers are looking for. If your sales are slow right now, don't give up. Keep optimizing your listings.
Retail inflation is about to drive buyers right to your doors.

·3 weeks agoGlad I don't need to buy many clothes to begin with, though I could not imagine buying used.
Laundered does not ease the thought of wearing someone else's clothing.
I know there is a huge market for it, just does not appeal to everyone.
Here is hoping @ten_o_nine is correct as I know millions supplement income selling used. Best of luck to those folks moving into fall season.

OP3 weeks agolol, I am the same, but "pre-owned" means the item has had a previous owner, not necessarily that it was worn or used.
