Possible Scam 0% Feedback Yet Has 29 Positive Reviews?
I listed an item for $1,400 and got an offer for that amount within a couple hours of listing. This buyer has 0% feedback and yet has 29 positive reviews all saying things like:
Fast Payment AAA+++ buyer, enjoy!!!
Great buyer, fast payment, great to deal with!
do you think I’m good to ship as long as I have post office verify address and require signature?

u say u got an offer of $1400, was it an offer? or did they just pay the $1400? and was it a Buy it Now? or Auction with a $1400 option to buy?
did they pay? did u receive any messages from them? have u messaged them?
as already stated, u r a magnet for scammers being new and selling a high priced and popular item.
with the little info u gave, i would go with @sextons-sweet-deals and @nobody*s_perfect advice

·3 years agoThose are all good questions. It would have been more helpful if OP had given us the listing number rather than the bidder ID.

You're kind of a new seller. Have you Google map the address? What does it look like? I would add 'signature required' at delivery if you decide to ship.
The other issue of selling something like this is that scammers will claim item is broke or does not work, and then you have to decide how to handle it and possibly lose the item and the money.
Personally, for a $1400 electronic item, I would have listed as pick-up only so the buyer can check it out and pay then, but that is just me.

·3 years agoAs others have noted, the 0% feedback just means that they haven't gotten any feedback in the past year. Sometimes, inactive accounts are targeted by hijackers because their activity is less likely to be noticed.
Positive comments are meaningless since sellers cannot leave negative ratings for buyers and can't even make negative comments with a positive rating. Furthermore, most of the comments in that buyer's history are the canned feedback left by sellers who have their site options set to automatically leave feedback when they get paid, and most are more than 5 years old.
IMHO you should just ignore this offer, and maybe put this member on your blocked bidders list. If you have already accepted the offer but haven't been paid yet, be very cautious about any messages this buyer sends you. A red flag that nobody has mentioned yet is that they made an offer for the full asking price, rather than just purchasing the item. Why would they do that? Probably because they plan to try to scam you into a payment trick in which they claim they can't pay via the usual method, then ask for your PayPal email so they can pay you directly, and then send you a fake PayPal message so you think you have been paid.

·3 years agoWell if it's the scam that I outlined above, there will be no payment forthcoming, only suspicious messages.
Do NOT send any invoices, since that re-sets the 4-day waiting period after which you can cancel the transaction based on "Buyer hasn't paid." Here is the Help page about what to do if a buyer doesn't pay:

·1 year agoI have 1300 positive reviews and no negative, and still show 0% feedback. My wife has 37 reviews and 100% feedback. Fighting with eBay now to get it fixed. 😞

The feedback % shows for the last year.
You have not received any feedback for at least a year. That is why it is 0.

FWIW we used to be able to tag an OP (original post) with "old thread from 2023" when old discussions were resurrected from the dead. eBay removed that opportunity for us to do so even though it saved everyone a lot of time and reading information that no longer applied.

·1 year agoThe thread was relevant and so that's why I posted to it. My wife has not sold or bought anything within a couple years and her feedback is still showing 100% positive. I saw the post that said it was only for the last year but can find nothing else on eBay or in conversations with eBay that drops your feedback rating for lack of action. eBay has looked at it twice and both times said it was an error on their part. They have escalated to their IT department.

·1 year agoI did find on a couple Reddit threads that feedback only applies to the last 12 months but that has never synced with my experience or with my review of my wife's account.

You don't seem to have an understanding of how feedback works..
You received no feedback in the past 12 months so your score for the past 12 months is zero. eBay only counts feedback for the past 12 months....all prior feedback is no longer counted.
Your wife's feedback has nothing to do with your feedback. She probably made some purchases within the past 12 months which is why her feedback has a score.
This topic is moot since buyer feedback is pretty much irrelevant.
eBay will tell you there is no problem with your feedback only with your comprehension of how it works.

·3 years agoIf you list something for sale and someone buys it, you ship it.
You don't sell it, then investigate the buyer, then decide whether or not to ship it.
As @tdrake pointed out, they probably haven't made a purchase or received feedback in over a year.
The only "problem" I see here is that you are a fairly inexperienced seller selling a high priced item.
You are a "magnet' for scammers.
Unfortunately there is no way to protect yourself from this.
Just follow the rules and do everything by the book.

OP3 years agoThat makes a lot of sense. New to selling on eBay and didn’t really understand the framework as it is something I don’t have any experience in.

·3 years agoAs said, feedback percentage is based on one year so your buyer probably is okay.
I would have more of a problem buying something of that price from someone with zero feedback as a seller.
