Poorly Trained Customer Serice Staff
It's shocking (in a Bad Way) how ineffective and unaware this dept really is on how to understand and take reasonable measures to solve very basic issues. eBay's Customer Service sucks. They are so bad that their job that they have exposed me fraud and have in fact defrauded me and fell for a very basic Identity Fraud Scam in which they participated in and used a Fraud Scam on me! After 25 years and 100% feedback, 5 stars on every category on over 3000 transactions, they have treated me like a POS.

·2 years agoSeems that the OP is stating that the "signed PS form 3849" that eBay (and seller) is using as proof of delivery does not exist in USPS records.

·2 years agoIs that the little peach-colored slip that they leave on your door when no one is available to sign for a package? Because those absolutely do exist, I've received them dozens of times.

Yes it is, and yes, they do exist 😂 and either one of those, or a signature (someone's signature) done on the carrier scanner, (or at a PO terminal) and available electronically would be the proof that "someone" signed for an item.
Seems here, the best that I can grasp, the contention is that neither exists in the USPS data base, but eBay presented one to deny the INR claim.

·2 years agoeBay only provides what the Seller provides.
NOBODY at ebay 'frauded' you.
Also, items that are NOT THAT MUCH $$ are NOT required to be signed for and very doubtful that it was originally shipped that way. But...either way, again- ebay ONLY looks at what a Seller sent and if Seller sent a 'signed for' item with tracking showing 'Delivered'...then this is ALWAYS been how it works.
If you have a 'letter' from the Carrier Company, you simply APPEAL the 1st decision and you can 'submit' that 'proof'- then 'someone will look at it and probably overturn the original decision, which again- was based on the fact that the 'tracking' showed 'delivered' in your zip code.
Know that there are MILLIONS of Buyers that will ALSO say "I didn't Get It" just to get a 'freebie' so the Tracking is about the only proof a seller has that the item was a.) shipped b.) received. That is WHY they use the original 'tracking' (as an automated thing).
Whatever a 'rep' told you doesn't matter because this is an automated site that has a system for these things...and 'appealing' is right there, when you get the 'decision' on a 'Not Received' return.

·2 years agoBeing called a ebay "cheerleader" that's my biggest complaint about ebay, the customer service.
When I take over this company, I'm going to train and hire US based customer service staff.
All customer service staff will need at least 10 years of selling experience on ebay.
Seems like a small price to pay for such a big company.

·2 years agoYou keep stating ebay has perpetrated fraud against you but have explained how. Saying ebay has forged your signature for you say not a lot of money makes no sense. Makes no difference i just do not get it. I have been on ebay more than 15 years. How long you have been here does not make you immune to people making mistakes.

·2 years agoSorry to hear you feel this way. I do not agree with your description of Ebays customer service. While there is always room for improvement. Ebays CS what above and beyond to help me with the issues i was having with my account. While it is not my job to toot ebays CS horn the sound you just heard was me toot their horn.

·2 years agoIf the description of this fraud provided on this forum was indicative of what was provided to customer service, I have to say the there was no failure by customer service.
Since we have no indication of what the document was and how it was used in fraud.

·2 years agoOverseas farmed out CSRs are woefully incompetent.
If you want anything outside the most basic you are exceptionally likely to get the worst advice possible.
Why ebay continues using them is a head scratcher for sure.

Sorry for your frustration. Most of us here who post daily are quite aware of eBay's customer service and their short comings. They are poor at best. Can you explain or expand how they exposed you to fraud? They usually just answer questions, most of the time their info is incorrect or false, but I've never heard this one before. What exactly happened?

OP2 years agothis situation is not complicated. The evidence that the U.S. Postal Service provided in a full report completely nullifies the action taken by EBAY Customer Service. Furthermore, EBAY actually provided me (probably by accident) with a falsified document containing identity fraud including a fake signature of my name in BLOCK print and Misspelled. Upon receiving the PDF of the document from customer services I took this document to the U.S .Post Office for them to look at and they told me that the document that EBAY provided to me was in fact a fraud piece of documentation that did not exist in the U.S. P.S. Date Base. In other words, someone at EBAY created a false document that I have verified to be done in a fraud effort. This document will be provided to the small claims court judge to evaluate along with the statements from the USPS. and full report.

Thank you for following up on this and again, sorry you had to experience this. eBay customer service is infamous for false and incorrect info. Maybe this will be a wake up call. Who knows?
Good luck to you!

OP2 years agoLook me up! 25 years as an eBay "Partner" way over 3000 transactions, 100% Feedback, 5 Star in all categories. And what did eBay do? They sided with a Fraud (0) Zero lister selling their first fake Item. They aired on the side of fraud and profited by the use of fraud. This shipping scam is well known, but eBay claimed they never heard of this. Fortunately, the Post Office was able to do a full trace and report for me to share in small claims court. It's not a huge amount, but my personal policy of never allowing anybody including eBay to steal from me, has collided with eBay's ambitions.

I stated I was sorry for your situation & hopefully a positive outcome on your behalf. Why are you blasting me?

OP2 years agoSorry, but I don't understand the meaning of the use of the word "Blasting" in your reply.

·2 years agoIf Ebay denied the INR claim, did you get a letter from USPS stating the information they gave you, then used the letter in your appeal?

·2 years agoWhat action did Ebay take and what evidence did USPS provide?
Was an order not received?
Did Ebay refund a buyer?

I dont know how it is in your area, but in my area,(Chicago),USPS,FedEx, and UPS drivers are still signing my packages that require a signature. It started during Covid, and has continued. They dont even ring the bell, just leave the pkg on my porch or in the mailbox.Ive called a couple of times and complained, but that did no good.

·2 years agoThere are two forms of signatures by the USPS...the others shippers I don't know.
There is digital signature or written signature by the USPS...and seller can request either one at my post office.
Sounds like the delivery person is doing digital which would not be yours but his.
FedEx always rings my door bell...never had a problem with them...and they don't ask for a signature all the time. They never leave a package in my upscale neighborhood...Pacific Heights.
UPS has a key door to our lobby as well as they ring our doorbell.
I think it does depends where you live. As a formal resident of Lake Shore Drive in Chicago...we had a great doorman who took all incoming packages.

Then I definitely need a doorman at my house, LOL. Yes, the signatures are not my name, I havent signed for a pkg in three years, and that includes several FedEx delivery international checks I received.

·2 years agoWhat is wrong with you? Who receives checks in the mail? 😉

·2 years agoI got two checks in the mail by USPS Express Mail, no signature required, from an inheritance, for $165,000 last year, from the law firm handling the estate, Alabama to Indiana. I was shocked that the mailman didn't want a signature.

·2 years agoSorry, but your first post did not mention anything about HOW ...so everyone here can only assume you were venting and not needing any solution?
a_c_green
·2 years agoWas this a high-value return that you never received? I don't see any recent sales by you that come anywhere close to the $750 minimum, above which eBay requires Signature Confirmation for seller protection in an Item Not Received dispute, so I'm puzzled about why your buyer supposedly used it when shipping (back) to you.
Who are you suing in Small Claims Court: eBay or the buyer? Have you filed the case yet?
If we are misunderstanding your situation, please give us a bit more step-by-step detail on what happened to you here.

·2 years agoWhat basic issue were you trying to solve?
How exactly did customer service expose you to fraud and defraud you?
Something is missing from your story.
More importantly how did you contact eBay?
Did you request a call back through chat or did you look for a number doing a Google search?
