Hi everyone,
I’ve been selling on eBay for years and used to really enjoy running auctions. One of the things that made auctions genuinely fun and motivating was receiving notifications that showed the exact bid amount every time someone placed a new bid.
It was exciting to watch the price go up in real time. Getting multiple bids felt rewarding and gave a real sense of momentum. It motivated me to list more items in auction format because it was satisfying to see the progress.
Now we only get a generic message like “Someone bid on your item” or “New bid received.” I understand why this change was made — probably to reduce sniping and simplify notifications — but it has removed a lot of the excitement and satisfaction that came with running auctions.
I believe many other sellers feel the same way. Seeing the actual bid amounts was a small but meaningful feature that made the selling experience more engaging and enjoyable.
Would eBay please consider bringing back the detailed bid notifications for sellers on auction listings? It would make a big positive difference for those of us who enjoy the auction format.
