Please explain Promoted versus Organic Impressions...THANKS!
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not clear on the Impressions meaning and the difference between Promoted & Organic impressions. Have looked in the Help pages to no avail. Would someone please explain these concepts as I know I'm not the only one who needs clarification. Thank You!

·1 year agoHi there
Great questions! As someone who's also been selling on eBay for a while and recently got more active, I’ve looked into these things myself and can share a bit of what I’ve learned.
What’s an Impression?
An impression is when someone sees your listing on eBay like in search results, category pages, or related items. It doesn’t mean they clicked, just that your item appeared on their screen. The more impressions, the better your chances of getting views and sales.
Is it related to views?
Yes views mean someone actually clicked and looked at your item. So
Impressions = Seen
Views = Clicked
Why views disappear after a while?
eBay only shows views from the past 30 days. After that, it resets so you’re always seeing recent activity. It’s a bit confusing at first, but it helps track which items are getting attention now.
Whats Promoting a Listing?
Promoting means paying a small ad fee to boost your listing higher in search results. You set a percentage (like 1%–5%) and only pay that if the promoted version leads to a sale. It helps get more impressions—and hopefully more sales.
Good luck ðŸ‘

·4 years agoOrganic is simply the number of times the ordinary listing shows in search. Promoted, which you have to pay extra for, shows the same listing in other places in addition to showing in search. It may be higher in normal search. Other places it shows are in the lines of products in the listing, along side the listing, etc.
to me PL encourages an impulse buy...........it may not be something a buyer is looking for, but when he sees it.......he realizes he wants it. Kind of like candy at the checkout.....you passed up the normal isle, but seeing it while you are standing there....you grab a candy bar.......

·4 years agothanks...on the advertising dashboard, is the line (mine's purple) showing the daily count of organic impressions the number ordinary times any of my items showed in a search or just the promoted items?

·3 years agoAccording to the help text next to this chart:
"The number of times your listings have appeared in an organic placement (i.e. not sponsored) on any eBay site.
Data is only for items in active promoted listings campaigns for the time period you have selected."
The chart is only showing data for items that you are promoting and the purple line for
Organic impressions (promoted) are the organic impressions your promoted items have received. So, what this chart does not include are organic impressions of items that you have not promoted.
