Phone Number on Shipping Labels?
Summary: spite_of_salt is concerned about needing to include their phone number on shipping labels for packages sent through eBay. Several participants responded, stating that it is not necessary to have a phone number on the label. Some suggested checking account settings to ensure the phone number is not accidentally included in the address details, while others noted that carriers typically do not use the phone number. One participant mentioned using a sharpie to cover it if it appears on the labels.
Hello,
Long story short:
Is it absolutely required that my phone number is on every package I ship? I understand needing my name and address on there (Ebay aside), but I'd rather not just have my phone number constantly tossed out there like that if I can avoid it. Ebay has a messaging system for a reason if they really want to get a hold of me.

·1 week agoI have no idea why it's there. The only label options I believe are on the label page itself. I'd probably sharpie over it.

·1 week ago@spite_of_salt I understand your concern, and no you do not need the phone number on the label. I do not know why it would appear. Check your address in your account and make sure you did not also input your phone number on one of the address lines. That's about the only way I can think it would get on there.
With that said, the carrier isn't going to read or care about your phone number. When I send HazMat stuff I have to write my number on the DOT label. I've never had a call from anybody. I think buyer already get your phone number when they order but I may be mistaken on that. I know sellers get the buyers number. If some nutcase buyer wanted your number, they would be able to find it in about ten seconds if they know where to look. Heck, they could find every phone number you've had for the past four decades.

I don't know how it even got there.
I would get rid of it.
Is it your return address that's showing your phone number?

Hopefully someone comes along soon and help you remove it.
I would not want my phone number on it either.
