Perfect account suspended permanently for no reason
Hello,
i have been an Ebay member for 12+ years, 100% seller feedback and 100% on time metric, 0 violations or complaints against me. It was initially a temporary ban, and asked to prove documentation for where i purchased the items. I did, the invoice shows my name, address, payment information, the items, matching Ebay. I was told by representatives to wait 24-48 hours and my account would be reinstated. Today, i got an email my account has been permanently banned, and Ebay is holding my $2500 in funds after they forced me to ship an order that was placed minutes before the temporary restrictions. Now the customer has a $3000 item, and my account is suspend and i’m not going to get the money. Is this a joke??
Anyone dealt with this non sense before? Do i need to lawyer up?

·2 years agoGreetings. I had the same exact thing happen to me. 100% positive feedback, great relationships with customers, and now, my store (which was my sole source of income) has been shut down, eBay is still holding $1500 of my money. I can't talk to a 'real' person, the department that handles these "restrictions" is available via email only and it takes 48-72 hours to respond. I sent all the invoices as well, and still, shut down. I am beyond frustrated and mad. My husband is an attorney, and we are thinking about filing a class action if anyone is interested.

·3 years agoThere is no need, at this time for the OP to get a lawyer. They are at the beginning of this road. They just submitted the paperwork Ebay wanted today or yesterday.
rboy9881
OP3 years agoSo i’ve submitted the paperwork few days ago. Essentially, the restriction was received and requested tracking for orders, they were provided and Ebay confirmed, then another email requesting invoices was received. Despite being sensitive information, it was provided, then few days later, a permanent suspension was received. Upon searching online, this exact scenario is happening to many users (where they are initially told it’s temporary, and to provide documentation), then regardless of what’s provided, Ebay sends a permanent ban stating not to contact them again and that they won’t pay out funds.
mam98031
·3 years agoI get all of that. We discussed it earlier. It doesn't change anything I've said to you. Ebay is the ONLY ones that can fix this. You have to keep trying to communicate with Ebay. DAILY. It will be frustrating. Keep notes. But if you want that account released, you will need to contact them over and over and over again. No One else can fix it for you.

·3 years agoThe lawyer suggestion is a instant loser. Have not heard from a lawyered up winner here yet.
Make sure to try the eBay for Business on Facebook to contact eBay reps that actually work for eBay. Use the messenger app there.
Just stick to the facts, don't mention your lawyer idea. Short, spaced paragraphs that are easy to read and reference. You seem like someone who can craft a decent presentation.
Good luck.

·3 years agoGuessing it's that $2800 item, maybe the 'other item' that is in the 100's. Sometimes having things for sale that are $20 as well as $3000- there is an 'issue'.. as well as the 'stock pictures'.
You should NEVER use stock photos unless you build slowly and have a 'pattern' of selling 'that type of stuff'.
rboy9881
OP3 years agoThank you for your reply and insight. Completely understand why a $2800 item could trigger a temporary restriction and require proof of ownership or receipt (which i provided to Ebay). I have sold on Ebay for 11+ years and always used stock photos, i had no clue it could be an issue. I agree on the “manufacturer directâ€, i had this to imply that i purchased it from
the manufacturer, not that the manufacturer is selling it directly or it’s being drop shipped, but i see how could be misconstrued. I don’t think that should warrant a permanent ban in my opinion, given my history and 100% metrics, and never having any complaints.
mam98031
·3 years agoThe problem with that is that photos you take yourself can easily look like what many consider a "stock photo". That really is a old term that is quite outdated now.
Some of my pics are stock photos that my suppliers give me and many others are mine. I have a photo editing program that can easily make my pics look like a stock photo or what many assume to be a stock photo.
As long as the photo accurately depicts what is being sold, it should not be an issue.
rboy9881
OP3 years agoI agree, i don’t think it’s a photo issue given that the photos not only depict, but are the latest iteration of the versions being sold (which also match the item being sold).

·3 years ago"Drop shipping". The photos look like from a retail store online. Maybe if you took a personal photo of item for sale and not use the retail store photo. Just a thought.
rboy9881
OP3 years agoThank you for your reply. Yes, i use the original photo from the manufacturer, but i have never drop shipped a SINGLE item and that is easily verifiable. It would be a stretch (in my personal opinion) for Ebay to think i am drop shipping because i use the item’s digital photo. The invoices i provided Ebay clearly show that the items were shipped to my address, which matches my Ebay account, and the tracking numbers show it was shipped out of my (the same) PO for 11+ years.

·3 years ago@rboy9881 Maybe having "manufacturer direct" in the listing is causing it to appear as if it is drop shipped.
All I can suggest is if you have a contract with the manufacturer or have stock of the items in your possession, you should try to private message on the eBay for Business FaceBook page.
Maybe they can help or at least tell you why you are banned.
rboy9881
OP3 years agoThank you, will try that. I have all the items in my possession, i only ship and have ever shipped myself personally, the tracking numbers and invoices prove this easily. The “manufacturer direct†verbiage was to state it was purchased from the manufacturer directly, but i could see how that could be misconstrued and i should have used better verbiage.

·3 years agoI find it hard to believe that ebay picked you at RANDOM and gave you a permanent suspension for NO REASON. But if you say so...
rboy9881
OP3 years agoi find it random as well, which is why i’m here. I have the proof as well, including my 100% metrics and zero complaints, and if you did even a bit of research instead of making false accusations, you’d know that Ebay has admitted to doing this in the past (which resulted in the reinstatement of countless accounts since).

·3 years agoI made no accusations.
What accusation(s) did I make?

mam98031
·3 years agoThere was a reason, you just don't agree with the reason. That doesn't equal no reason.
I do understand this is annoying, frustrating and stressful to go through. Not to mention the financial burden. And I'm confident that you have contacted Ebay on a few occasions trying to get this resolved, but what method of contacting Ebay have you used? It can make a difference.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.

If when you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant, type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.

OP3 years agoThank you for the information, but Ebay had admitted to doing this in the past on a large scale, more than once (“accidentally†suspending accounts), to state that “there is a reason, you just don’t agree with itâ€, is simply not true given again, that Ebay has recently admitted to doing this with no reason and because Ebay has not provided and refuses to provide any reasoning.
Is it really not suspicious Ebay is taking commission on these sales which it’s keeping, but it’s refusing to pay and removing the accounts (again, thousands of 100% metric sellers), especially since Ebay admitted to doing this “accidentally†in the past (Ebay’s words).
I have tried contacting Ebay through responding to the messages, customer service, escalating to a manager, and social media you listed, but have not gotten responses there yet.
mam98031
·3 years agoI'm not trying to argue that at all. But the only way you are going to get your account back is to continue to try to engage Ebay to fix it. You have to just keep trying. As frustrating as it is, you need to keep contacting them.

·3 years agoIn the United States "manufacturer direct" means one thing and one thing only. Everybody knows what it means. It means you will be receiving an item directly from the manufacturer. It absolutely does not mean a reseller at some point in their life purchased the item from a manufacturer. There is no dispute about the meaning of this term. Huge red flag.

·2 years agohappened to me i was suspended indefinitely middle of January 2023 prior to this i sold a high value item and 2 days into being banned my buyer was told by reps i no longer have an account and they decided to open a erroneous INR. and were immediately refunded. 12 days later ebay reinstated after asking me were i get my items but stated the reason was proof of identity. said thank you for submitting proof of identity. weve reinstated your account. however thats a load of you known what! i did not submit anything to prove identity since i started 4 years ago. so i lost my money and my item due to ebay erroror whatever that suspension was
it was the cause of my damages and loss. ive been going back and forth with reps and supervisors for 3 months. ive been told all types of lies been cutoff in messages and hug up on when i ask for the justification for why i am at faut and ebay refuses to take accountability.

Sorry for your situation. From the looks of it you were drop shipping from a 3rd party retailer. That violates Ebay policy. Here's a note about what you can and cannot do where drop shipping is concerned:
Drop shipping and product sourcing
"However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay. Activity that doesn’t follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including but not limited to: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, loss of buyer or seller protections, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account."
Bottom line is a you cannot purchase a customers order from another source, just because it's cheaper. It's dishonest and bad business.
Your funds will most likely be released in about 6 months time to your states unclaimed funds department. You can claim it there with proper ID.
Again, sorry for your situation. Best of luck with future career opportunities.

OP3 years agoThank you for your reply.
NO, i have never drop shipped ANY item. It is all shipped by ME personally, and always within Ebay’s stated timeframe. Where is the suggestion even coming from that i was drop shipping? This could not be further to the truth.
I also have invoices for every item listed, showing it was shipped to ME (my address matches my Ebay address), and there are even tracking numbers on the invoices i provided showing that it was shipped to me.
mam98031
·3 years ago@rboy9881
You said the paperwork you submitted to Ebay had "...invoice shows my name, address, payment information, the items...". And that certainly is info they are after, but it is likely the most important piece of info would be your Vendor's name, address and possibly their logo on the invoice. Was that included?
rboy9881
OP3 years agoAbsolutely, yes, the vendor’s name, address, phone, etc. was all on there, they could literally call them and they would confirm it.
Ebay has confirmed this “accidentally†happened in the past year, but refused to say how many accounts were affected. I’ve attached a photo of their statement. There are reddit threads with hundreds of sellers confirming that happening as well (100% sellers as well with metrics, on time delivery, no warnings ever, etc.).
