People who don’t pay with auctions, 7 days plus 4 waiting..
People who have bid, they win the auction, you check their feed back and you find out they have not paid other people for their auctions. But they are able to continue this…
I tried to leave feedback to one person who did this- but I didn’t know if I waited until after the 4 day mark- I can’t leave feed back to protect others…

·3 years agoAs you've found out, leaving buyers bad feedback (which is a policy violation) does nothing to protect others.

You cannot "protect" other sellers by leaving feedback. Think about it - did the feedback from others "protect" you?
You protect other sellers by following the eBay process for cancelling transactions for non-payment.
It is against eBay policy to use positive feedback to say negative things about a buyer.

·3 years agoThe 7 days is what most auctions run plus another 4 days before canceling for non payment. So that is 11 days to get no payment than the whole process starts over when relisted.

·3 years agoThe auction format and the use of OBO have always had this risk. I believe eBay has started to require immediate payment with the use of OBO but I am not sure if it has been fully implemented yet. As long as you have been selling I am surprised you are just now noticing the non-payment issue although most of your listings are currently BIN and the non-payment issue does seem to be increasing lately.
While you cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer you can setup your personal settings as @mam98031 described to block potential bidders with a history of not paying. I utilize the auction format almost exclusively for time management reasons and have always accepted the non-payment issue as part of doing business. I actually prefer a non-payer as opposed to a buyer requests to cancel and order immediately after purchase or simply opens return request once they receive the item(s).
Most of your items are BIN which is probably best for most of what you are selling given the ability to establish an average market value on the items. The one item you recently sold on auction was probably a good auction format candidate and had a LOT of interest and bids from 12 different bidders. You can either relist in auction format again or you now have a pretty good idea of the value and can relist as BIN. You could always try a second chance offer once you have canceled the winning bidders order for non-payment but the SCO does not appear to work that often.

·3 years agoUnless a seller lists with immediate payment required, a buyer has 4 days (96 hours) to pay.
At 96 hours and 1 second, the seller can cancel, citing buyer did not pay as the reason.
What is the 7 days plus 4 that you are referring to?

·3 years agoWhich as you know, but likely the OP doesn't. This option is NOT available on an auction format listing.
The 7 days the auction is active doesn't count. The winner of the auction isn't known until the auction ends.

·3 years agoBTW, most sellers just don't have the time to check every buyer's feedback. The only time I look at it is if I currently have an issue with a particular buyer. Other than that I never look.

·3 years agoThe most important thing you can do is 96 hours and 1 minute after the auction closes and no payment arrives is to file for your Cancellation using the reason the buyer did NOT pay. If more sellers would do this it would really help everyone. So many sellers don't do this.
And make sure your Buyer Requirements are set to the strictest possible. Which is 2 unpaid strikes in the past 12 months. If you do that and we all file for those cancellations when appropriate, when a buyer with 2 strikes tries to buy or bid from you, they will get a message on their screen that they are blocked from buying from you.

·3 years agoAuction format or Best Offer on a listing can open a seller up to non-payers. To get rid of this problem, list as fixed price with Immediate Payment Required. (Best Offer voids a IPR setting.)
Feedback is not an appropriate place to leave a warning to fellow sellers, which is a policy violation. Feedback is for buyers to rate their buying experience.

FYI - leaving negative comments in buyer feedback is NOT allowed.
The Auction format attracts non-payers in droves, always has and always will.
