Payouts Policies SUCK and so does eBay
I have used eBay for 20 years or more. I have always been mostly a buyer and sometimes a casual seller. I hadn’t sold in YEARS until recently. Whatever has happened at eBay’s corporate level is mind boggling.
Although a user for 20 years, I am subject to a hold on all my seller funds until 72 hours AFTER the buyer has received the item. Right away - I might wish to argue citing my lengthy history with eBay - regardless of selling history. But - considered I hadn’t sold on eBay for some time, I didn’t fight it … originally.
I sold for the first time in years about two weeks ago. I sold three small items … totaling no more than 200 bucks. Yep … eBay held the money. I called and got the runaround saying my funds would be released 72 hours after the buyer received the item.
I simply concluded it was “reasonable.â€
See - I am 1000% on board with REASONABLE measures to mitigate fraud. But … once it is no longer REASONABLE … RELEASE FUNDS TO ALL SELLERS.
I wonder how many millions of dollars eBay sits on for “72 hours†because they are reasonably mitigating fraud? WOW. A lot. Now … multiply the millions of dollars in the “FRAUD SLUSH FUND†with the interest eBay is making on honest people’s money because the are “mitigating fraud.â€
eBay … WAKE UP. To the corporate Jack Offs who may or may never read this … WAKE UP. Humans being are smart. You have humans being working for you who can look at an eBay account and make determination to RELEASE SELLER PAYMENTS immediately.
Fraudulent eBay accounts are not hard to distinguish … they usually were opened up within the past three months and have -0- feedbacks history. The account holder, if a seller, is easily distinguishable from the honest people who by-and-large sell on eBay. Get your heads out of each others asses and learn now (i.e. proactively) that your HOLDS on PAYOUTS policies will cost you more than fraud ever will … because sellers are LEAVING THE EBAY PLATFORM.

And, eBay has 18 Million sellers which would be a little difficult for humans to sit and look at all those accounts to determine anything.

Ebay is not the only online selling platform that holds seller funds until 72 hours after buyer receives the item. I recently found a item listed on Offerup for $100.00 plus shipping $10.00 shipping. I bought the item and paid for it immediately because I know I can sell it on here for $500.00 to $600.00.
About an hour later I get an email from Offerup that indicated the seller had cancelled the transaction. I reached out to the buyer and asked why did you cancel the transaction. He sent a message back to me that said he didn't know there was going to a hold on my payment until 72 hours after I receive the item and approve it. I put on my thinking cap and said how about if I paid you more money? The seller agreed to sell it to me for $125.00 plus $10.00 shipping. Supposedly according to tracking the item is on its way to me.

·1 year agoI think that is an over reach. Certainly some things have been streamlined and AI has taken some positions. That would be pretty normal stuff in Corporate America and usually a good business decision. But I certainly don't agree with your opinion on this and I've not seen any actual stats on this, have you?

Actually, the most effective fraud on eBay comes when scammers using phishing techniques to hijack existing accounts that do NOT match the profile you described. Accounts like yours, for instance.

·1 year agoThe mere fact you have an account on Ebay but doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. If this is your only account for the past 20 years, you have sold 3 items in that 20 years. That doesn't get you what you apparently feel it should.
Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.

But yes eBay ain't what she used to be. Heck I even heard that there will be phones without cords and you can carry them in your back pocket soon too.
How many sellers are leaving daily and how many sellers are brand new to eBay each day??
I seem to recall had some delays in getting funded when I started selling on eBay as a newbie in 2010 although I started buying in 2008. Something about the first 10 transactions.
Don't sell any more on eBay - do free day care for our newest grandson.and a no charge Uber driver for "She Who Must Be Obeyed".

·1 year agoI always thought eBays way of how you wait a few days for payment but if someone asks for a refund it goes through immediately and comes right out of your payout for tomorrow when it shouldn't be taken out until the following day. Seems like a good way for scammers to rip people off and be gone before the initial payment even hits.

·1 year agoThe account you are using to post has not had enough sales to justify trusting it, regardless of whatever accounts you have had.
There are more issues than whether the order is delivered. Buyers can return not as described or defective merchandise for 30 days after delivery.
The site is too large, and the number of unethical and fraudulent sellers too great for anyone to trust new sellers. This is the case on many other internet marketplaces as well. Expect the maximum payment delay, 30 days, until you have built a history which justifies taking a risk on you.

If it was a very long hiatus eBay can consider you a new seller.
That is why you had rules for a new seller placed on you.

Be lucky they don't hold all funds for 30 days, until after the MB expires.

·1 year agoYou're aware that people buy & sell aged accounts for fraud purposes, all the time, right? The longer it's aged, the higher the price. Fraudsters are not just new accts.

Actually the hold may be 30 days.

·1 year agoEvery single platform I sell on (well, four of them) requires three day holds after receipt of goods before releasing funds.
ETA: … because sellers are LEAVING THE EBAY PLATFORM
I wish. I think there are more sellers on here than ever.
