Payouts on hold
Summary: jokerf19 expressed frustration over sudden account restrictions on their primary income source, eBay, which delayed payments and affected their ability to pay bills. tobaccocardyahoo highlighted that Trust and Safety restrictions may be the reason and suggested diversifying income sources. Other participants advised resolving negative feedback issues and improving business practices. Some encouraged understanding and compassion, while others pointed out the risk of relying solely on eBay for financial stability. The discussion included mixed reactions to jokerf19's explanation of taking care of customer complaints, with suggestions to focus on providing consistent, accurate service.
So out of the blue my account now has a restriction that only pays for item after 30 days after it gets delivered regardless of the feedback given by buyer. Well I use eBay as a main source of income and now cannot pay my bills and my car insurance was cancelled yesterday. What is going on?

·3 weeks ago@jokerf19 you have some serious issues with online selling. If you are expecting to do this as a majority cash flow, business practices will have to be tightened up for chances at success.
It takes a lot of focus, timeliness and attention to detail.
Good luck moving forward.

·3 weeks agoNot out of the blue. You would have received a notification of some kind.
Grow up, take some responsibility. You need to stop blaming eBay and other people for your problems. Yes, everyone makes mistakes and everyone has to learn but six negs in a short period of time? After the first one, you should have paid attention and tried to do better. When you screw up and have to take back a return or give a refund, that is not helping you financially. It hurts you in more ways than one.

·3 weeks agoWhen your main source of business comes from self-employment, your cashflow will often be a bit rocky. I'd recommend picking up a part time job to supplement your ebay income if the payout holds are causing you financial strain. Wishing you the best success.

·3 weeks agoMy take is that you need is not advice on how to fix things eBay. You need to work on how to make money. That doesn’t necessarily include eBay. eBay is a small part that’s fine – but focus on making money earning a living on eBay is difficult for great sellers – I wouldn’t recommend it as the thing to rely on if you’ve been struggling with performance.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 4:50 AM'The seller is away until Sun, Aug 16, 2026. Expect a delay in delivery until they return.' Could this be a reason? I doubt a 97.7% feedback would trigger a restriction like that.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 5:38 AMMaybe 6 NAD claims within the last 12 months?

·Jul 19, 2026 at 3:34 PMOnly 2 are NADs.

·3 weeks agoNo, when a seller uses the Time Away function they have a few options. One of those options is to leave their listings available while they are gone and they will ship when they return. Based on the date the seller tells the system they will return, their handling time on the listing is adjusted to reflect that. So NO late shipments would not apply unless they didn't meet the extended target date.
With that said, I don't see that the OP has that they are away any more on their listings, so they must have changed it since you last looked.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 4:28 AMI wouldn't worry too much about the insurance being cancelled. Judging by the feedback, the car will probably be repossessed soon enough.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 4:08 PMI don't understand why you have to give such a snarky answer which is not your first on these forums. Perhaps a little more compassion would be in order especially given what you have chosen for your user name.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 7:04 PM · Edited@flp I gave a snarky answer because the OP is a bad seller. Bad sellers are bad for all sellers. They run good buyers off the platform. Ripping buyers off is not cool. Why are you coming to the aid of a seller who rips off buyers? Buyers reading this should be paying attention as to who is defending whom.
The OP comes here trying to play us a fool, as if they do not know why their account is on restriction. One look at their feedback tells the story. They know they've been messing buyers over.
If a seller voluntarily comes here to moan about what eBay has done to them, as if eBay has done something they wrong, then I am going to look at their freedback. I will also call out as it is relevant to their issue. Sometimes, that may involve a snarky remark.
I don't see you contributing anything outside of defending a seller who treats their buyers poorly.

·Jul 19, 2026 at 8:25 PMI never said I was defending the OP. Yes, they have made mistakes and there are consequences for that. But, I still maintain that compassion and understanding would do you , and all of us, well. I've been in his situation before where I couldn't pay my bills and had to worry about things being shut off. So, I know how that experience can be upsetting. A bit of constructive advice is always better than not and it behooves those of us who say we are Christian to do that.

OP3 weeks agoI haven't ripped anybody off. If buyer had an issue I refunded completely. I've never ripped anybody off.
albertabrightalberta
·3 weeks agoFrom ebay's POV, they don't consider a refund to be a good thing. Just because you made the buyer whole didn't give them a good experience.
Ebay expects buyers to be happy because they find, pay for and receive items that are accurately described and delivered promptly. They don't want buyers disappointed because items are poorly packaged, damaged or otherwise NAD (not as described).

I've heard this before, that ebay randomly suspends accounts for no reason at all. I heard they use a dartboard. I'm not sure if this is true.
jokerf19
OPJul 19, 2026 at 3:50 AMThere's nothing to hide. Yes I have some negative feedback. I took care of each and every issue. Being a fairly new seller there are learning curves but this is just very hard to understand. I do use other platforms but eBay has been the best one so far and I do not want to loose my seller privileges and would like to know what I can do in the future to avoid this and get back to normal payouts

OPJul 18, 2026 at 7:12 PMTrist and safety issues? How do I resolve this
gurlcat
·Jul 18, 2026 at 8:11 PMThere are so many possibilities it would be unreasonable to expect any of us to try to figure it out, by asking you tons of questions, and even then maybe not get the truth if you're too embarrassed to admit something.
Did you not receive a message from eBay stating why your account has been restricted? -Like I said there are tons of possible reasons, and we can't see anything on your screen.

·Jul 18, 2026 at 7:04 PMYou have triggered Trust and Safety restrictions on your account.
It is an automated process, and will continue at least until whatever the trigger is has been removed.
Reliance on Ebay or any other internet marketplace to pay your bills is a dangerous situation. You need other ways to meet your needs,
