Payout less than Order Earnings

Hi, first time posting here. I wanted to talk to a "live human" CS agent, but of course I'm getting the runraround and cannot access an agent, even through the AI chat. It just keeps saying "not available" even though supposedly this is within their "normal business hours". Anyway, for the first time I've experienced, my payout amount for an item sold is less than the order earnings as shown on the order details page. The order earnings shown is $107.76, but the email I got for the payout is only for $84.16. Every other sale I've made, the payout has matched the order earnings, and there is no further detail shown as to why I was shorted $23.60. I verified the payout is for this order, and I have no messages or notifications regarding this amount, a partial refund, or anything that I can see why this happened. The details in the email or any of the links regarding the payout contains no useful information either. Does anyone have any idea why something like this can happen?

OP3 weeks agoThanks everyone for their replies. I finally got ahold of a CS agent and they confirmed what's been said in here. Personally I think each sale should be its own transaction and all fees, refunds, ship labels, etc come out of the same order, but it is what it is.

It is what it is because what you want does not work in the real world. On eBay, a listing, a transaction, a payment, and a payout are called differnt names because they are fundamentally different things.

·3 weeks agoWhat you need to do is check your account summary of your charges. Then check your Payments>All Transactions. Everything is lined out. One person brought up store fees. That's possible that Ebay is deducting a monthly fee from your payout to pay for your store.

·3 weeks agoMost likely reason is store fee was taken out or you bought a shipping label for your next order before eBay calculated the payout and it will be made up for in the next one.
Payouts are not done per order but per time period so it can become pretty convoluted when you have multiple sales and buy several labels in a day. You'd have to look at the next few payouts and check your monthly report to really know what's going on.

that should show the payments received and payment charges in order.....so you can see if there were deductions made after the payment was received.......and what they were for......

·3 weeks agoIf you sold another item before the funds were sent, they'll use those avaliable funds for fees and shipping on the second item.

OP3 weeks agoOh ok, thank you for this. That did happen, so the payout on the next sale should be higher if they already used the previous sale to pay for parts of the new order?

·3 weeks agoNot exactly, though it could work out that way. Payouts are not sent per order. It's just a rolling total of the available funds at the time the payout is sent. So it depends on how many other orders you have with shipping labels in that timeframe.

Fees on subsequent orders: No. Those will be taken from from those orders before the remaining earnings post to Available funds, same as the order in question.
EDIT: Except promotion ad fees; those are separate charges like shipping, but we don't know if the OP uses promotion.
