Payments on hold
I sold my first two items but the payments are on hold. I sent the items out through the USPS first and a private company the second time but didnt attach any tracking to them so they are still not listed as being delivered. Do you need to use the ebay shipping labels to send items? any thoughts on how to proceed from here - do I contact the buyer and ask them to tell ebay the items were delivered ? thanks for any guidance ive never done this before

·1 year agoEbay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.

Having tracking is not just in your best interests, but also needed to meet certain parameters eBay requires.. Without tracking, if a package goes missing, you would have no way to trace it. Or if a buyer claimed an Item Not Received case, you would be held liable for the refund, being unable to prove delivery. In addition, eBay evaluates seller performance on prompt shipping as a requirement, and that is also based on tracking data.
These are some basics of selling on eBay. I am concerned you didn’t know, and don’t want you to run into trouble because you were not aware of what’s expected of sellers, or not fully prepped.
So below are some links to info that will help in that regard, in case you haven’t read them yet, including the eBay User Agreement and the Money Back Guarantee policy, which is a critically important policy to know. There is lots of info online and on eBay’s Help pages. Read as much as you can, and peruse the forums often, and you’ll be up to speed in no time.
Best of luck to you, and come here anytime you have any questions or concerns. Always someone here to help.

I'm impressed you found these boards to ask for help, it shows initiative.
Many people only find the boards after they're in over their head with a problem.
So good for you!

New sellers are subject to holds of up to 30 days.
Here's some info on that https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816
That said; can you enter the tracking number into your sale details?

·1 year ago@dia_9296 Go to the details of your sale and there should be a box to upload it.
It will be on your postal receipt.
Here you go, have a read through this https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/tracking-items-youve-sold?id=4088

What is it you dislike, the convenience or the savings?

·1 year agoThere is nobody for your buyer to 'contact'. You need to add the tracking number to the orders, even if late- then they will show delivered, eventually.
Yes, best to buy labels on ebay, then they are recorded; but if you don't, you still need add the tracking numbers when you ship.
Regarding 'holds' on your funds, sometimes they hold for 30,60,90 days.
