Payment Hold asking for Receipts???
I have been selling on ebay for 24 years with a 100% rating. All of my items are either collectibles I own or items I purchased for personal use and I am reselling.
Ebay restricted my account and is asking for proof of ownership or purchase on two items that were purchased over 10 years ago. How does this make sense? Even the IRS doesn't go back that far.
Has anyone else experienced this and how do you deal with ebay as their customer service is worthless and the group that handles this is incredibly slow and doesn't give you much to work with.
Super frustrating!

·1 year agoWhat two items do they want receipts for?
I see the collectibles (comics) you're selling but I don't see any personal items you're reselling. Brand new t-shirts in all sizes and colors and personalized mugs don't seem to be personal items.

·1 year agoSame as me and some of the items I hand made so there is no receipts. They going to keep my money forever? And the one and only thing I did sale was a computer. But they want proof of my other listings that were not even sold, yet they hold my funds for something I already sold before this happened and shoulda got paid out if I wasn’t a new seller

·2 years agoYep, ebay does vet their sellers and demanding receipts is part of the process. This will happen to every seller at some point.
They demanded receipts for all 650+ listings I had up at one point. No receipts, they trash your account, done for.
How does ebay's actions make sense?
Retailers lost over $100 billion dollars to theft last year alone. Where do you think all that product is being sold?
On the other hand, ebay needs to be more transparent about what they require of their sellers to begin with. Had ebay informed you that you needed receipts to begin with, then problems like this could've been avoided.

·2 years agoSomething about your selling pattern has changed, probably the two items they have asked for invoices on, and you have triggered a security alert.
You need to follow the instructions you were sent along with the hold notice as best as you can.
Customer service is unlikely to be able to help because he security methods are not shared with them.
This sort of thing is happening across most internet marketplaces, and is frustrating in all of them.
There are no extra points for longevity or 100% feedback. There may be some for consistency.
The days of quick cash by selling stuff have passed for many people who are not a business selling similar items consistently.
