OPT out of Ebay international shipping program NOW! tracking never update force refund
I had to refund full order lost product and shipping cost, the tracking didn't move after 2 weeks and I was gonna get in trouble if I didn't refund..
I never sign up for this. I didn't know I opt in because I didn't check.

·2 years agoEIS provides very long expected delivery dates.
EIS often has long delays before the product leaves the Glendale Hub
EIS shipments arrive before the expected delivery data most of the time.
EBay protects your FB and your money if your product reaches Glendale and passes inspection.
Online sellers have a hard time trusting the people who run the marketplaces they sell on. Often the marketplace is more trustworthy than sellers give them credit for. Unfortunately, they are not always trustworthy.

·2 years agoeBay shipping is the absolute worst! I flat-out refuse to every buy again from sellers who use it and I know I'm not alone. I live in Canada and not only is shipping hugely overpriced by up to five times what it should be, but the mail sits in the consolidation center for up to three weeks. The only thing that is done with the mail is a new label is put on it. That's all! Sellers are being gaslighted into thinking eBay is providing some great service for them which they are not! They create frustration and animosity between buyers and sellers which only leads to buyers like me spending our money elsewhere. It's all about increasing profits for eBay. They charge buyers way too much for shipping and higher shipping equals higher fees for sellers.

·3 years agoI am going to opt out because we can't combine shipping for multiple items anymore. Its ridiculous. A package that should cost about 16-18 dollars is now costing my buyers 40 plus dollars.

·3 years ago@midwest_bugs
You are absolutely correct. Right now on international sales you can't combine shipping easily. It will take some extra effort on your part and that of the buyer to accomplish this. However keep an eye on the program as it is a good one. They will fix this at some point.
BTW combining shipping on your domestic sales is NOT affected.

·3 years agoI don't understand...the whole point of Ebay's international shipping is that it protects sellers against exactly this issue. Sellers are only responsible for shipping an item to the US hub. After that, Ebay is responsible.
On the other hand, if you ship to a non-Ebay affiliated freight forwarding company..this can be a big problem. I always check the primary country of the buyer if going to a US address. If I see they are from another country and it would be shipping to a US forwarder(non-Ebay), I cancel immediately!!! I then ask them to please use Ebay's international shipping option.
mam98031
·3 years agoWHY? The MBG covers this and sellers are only responsible for the package to the FF's address. Once they ship it beyond that point, the seller doesn't have to cover it.
If for some reason the buyer files for a Request for Return from their country and the seller decides they will actually accept the return, even though they don't have to, the return shipping label would be created with the FF's address, so the buyer would have to ship the item to the FF and then the FF would have to ship the item back to the seller.
I've shipped to **bleep** many times over the years with maybe one issue out of all of them.

·3 years agoThank you kindly for the heads up! I checked and sure enough Ebay was enrolling me in that.
I opted out. I have a longstanding policy of dragging my feet whenever Ebay comes up with a better idea. This policy has never been wrong. Once or twice neutral, most times highly beneficial.
I sell a good amount of stuff internationally and I am happier with the problems I know about, than whatever is hiding in the Ebay black box this time. 🙂
Anyway, for those here who don't know how to opt out, here is how you do it. Click your name at upper left, click "Account settings, Shipping Preferences", click "Opt Out" under International Shipping Program, and sit back and wait for things to go horribly wrong.
Anyway, for those who

·3 years agoYou need to tell buyer to open the case. You put the tracking # and then ebay would have refunded the buyer, not you. Now they are going to get a free item. Too bad we can't trade positions. I have been trying to get into the program the last 48 hours. I have items that are of interest to buyers in Europe.

·3 years agoFor some reason, the tracking has never shown up on ASENDIA's website & sometimes the tracking doesn't populate on eBay until after the fact, but there are literally hundreds of other websites to check the tracking on. I used Ship24, but there are many more.
The address is NOT a scam address & you did not have to refund.
I've been in it for 3 months, only 1 shipment had a problem. I figured out pretty early though that you can't track on ASENDIA & there have been many posts about it. In the future, you would have been better off coming here for help first.

·3 years agoEven if this wasn't an International sale, you would have had the same outcome.
I clearly handle my INRs differently than you do. When I get a complaint about this from a buyer, the first thing I do is go to the USPS website [if you shipped through USPS of course] and file for email updates on the tracking as the package moves. IDK if for other carriers there is such an option.
Then I go and file a trace on the package with the carrier so it gets on their radar as missing in action.
Then I go back to the INR and email the buyer from within the claim letting them know the steps I've taken and that the carrier typically takes 48-72 hours to respond. I let them know I will keep them updated every time I get any new info and I apologize for the delay.
This typically works. The package gets shook lose and eventually delivered. I don't think I've paid out on more than one lost package in the past couple of years.
Again your issue is NOT because of EIS.

·3 years agoOkay, I just read the eBay notification email. Not very clear.....
It takes 24 hours to go into effect if you opt out.... so I thought I would take a look at some of the jewelry I'm selling to see what the cost would be to the buyer for shipping to Spain or Sweden. The cost to the buyer would be about $20. I do free shipping on most of my handmade items so my next question is.... do we, the seller pay fees on that $20 shipping cost?
If so, I can understand why eBay is making this change.

·3 years agoFinal value fees
We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus $0.30 per order.
The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees. If you offer 1-day or international shipping as well as a cheaper or free option (like domestic shipping), the total amount of the sale is calculated based on the cheapest domestic option you offer. If you only offer 1-day or international shipping but no cheaper option like domestic shipping, the total amount of the sale is calculated based on the service the buyer chooses.

·3 years agoYou probably already know this now, but thought I'd share just in case.... I had my first sale with this. I also charge free shipping on most things. The item was purchased by someone in Australia. The fees were exactly the same as when someone in the US buys from me. They only charged a fee on the cost of the product, plus the tax (GST) and the final value fee. Hope this helps.

·3 years agoI just opted out. I didn't realize that eBay is putting all qualified sellers into this program regardless. You have to OPT OUT on your site preferences page if you do not want to do International shipping.
Just curious how eBay will be dealing with all of the different regulations... especially regarding mandatory use of recycled packing materials going into many countries.

·3 years agoI have had 2 packages go missing (so far) after getting to eBay's intl shipping hub in Glendale Heights. In both instances eBay promptly covered the refund to the buyer after sending me a message reassuring me that they would take care of anything and protect me from any negative feedback. So eBay does seem good as gold as far as covering shipments once they arrive at the hub.
If you have a buyer complaining that a package (which successfully reached the shipping hub) is taking too long or the tracking is not updating, simply tell them to wait and file an "item not received" once the delivery date has passed. Reassure them that they are covered by eBay. And rest assured that you are covered as well.

·3 years agoThe customer should take some responsibility if the are going to order internationally. If it has been in the country for two weeks, it is problem stuck in customs. Have them look for a phone number to reach that department of their government or whatever and inquire about the status of the package.
When I shipped internationally, I had to do this a couple times. Once in England and once in Australia. It is in their country, something there is not moving it on. Tell them to get on the ball and start calling whoever they need to in order to find their package.

·3 years agoYou don't have to opt into EIS if eBay or the EIS contractor determines your qualify they will unilaterally transition you to EIS and convert all your active listings to EIS shipping, at least those that qualify within the constraints of the EIS program. I looked at a couple of your sold items and you were transitioned
For your current active items it looks like you have indeed opted out of EIS and you are not shipping internationally although foreign buyers can still see the items and in fact purchase them and ask for an invoice. Note the shipping on the following item.
If you click on the "see details" you get the following .

O but they can and they will if you qualify. While a lot of your items would probably not be opened up to international shipping under the provisions of the excluded EIS items based on some of the postings here it does not appear the bots are doing all that good of a job during the conversion process. At present this is the EIS restricted list.
Restricted items and categories
Items included in eBay's hazardous, restricted or regulated materials policy, or that don't follow our International trading policy, can't be shipped using eBay International Shipping.
Due to export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories also can't be shipped with eBay International Shipping:
This is not an exhaustive list and it may be updated based on transportation regulations and export laws.

·3 years agoWho were you going to get in trouble with if you didn't refund? Have you read the protections you are provided by using the eBay International Shipping? From what I understand, you ship to the US address eBay provided for that transaction and then eBay is responsible for anything after that (providing there is not an item not as described case opened).
I think you may have refunded prematurely, it would be between the customer and eBay.

While the OP may not have followed the exact procedures for the EIS protection, whatever those are, from the post I gather that they were not even aware this was going through EIS or that they had been converted over to the program.
As this program begins to shake out it will be interesting to see how eBay handles the INR's, NAD's, Lost packages, scam's, crooked customs services and other things that sellers used to have to deal with. Will anything that flows through the EIS program automatically be handled by eBay and the contractor without ever involving the seller or will eBay direct the initial cases to the seller and the seller have to respond to every case stating it went through the EIS program? As more and more sellers are converted it would be nice to see some postings or confirmation as to how exactly that is taking place.
I have already seen a number of posting that have confirmed eBay has removed the international fee for anything that flows through EIS. There is some irony in that because when I was looking at order details it was a trigger that the order was going through a FF which in essence is what EIS is.
I hope this program works out as advertised and the protections remain in place but so far the transition has been a quagmire in some instances and eBay has not always stood solidly behind their policies especially when it is detrimental to their bottom line. If the program does indeed deliver as promised I will probably get back into selling internationally but for the moment I prefer to avoid the bleeding edge.

OP3 years agoI refund because the tracking isn't working, it show ups invalid, that's why this service suX. and people should opt out. I already told him to wait..and he keeps asking again beside refund what else can I do the tracking number on the service provider is invalid.

·3 years agoSounds like he's trying to push you into a refund before he gets the item. Don't fall for it. Contact eBay on FB. They usually put a new tracking number on it once it gets to the delivery center in the US.

·3 years agoNot a scam address; that is the new EIS for eBay.
Once it shows received there, you are out. You should have just input the tracking number in the return request, if you even got one- and then eBay would've taken care of the rest. It's NOT up to you to 'check' shipping from the US Hub to 'who knows where'.
kayh8012
OP3 years agohe kept asking where is it and why it's not moving the new tracking number given by the 3rd party company or whatever didn't even show up in their website it says tracking number don't exist.. that's why this thing sux because their tracking don't update and doesn't even work!

·3 years agoAgain- not up to you. You ship to EIS in the US and you're done.
Sounds like buyer didn't even open an official return. You jumped the gun. Many countries have a.) crummy shipping and b.) customs holds things up, sometimes weeks.

·3 years agoLike others have stated: with EIS you're only responsible for getting your package to the Ebay processing center.
You should contact Ebay and let them know. Maybe you can get your money back.

Curious if you know firsthand if the seller protections eBay is advertising under EIS are really working and eBay, or the EIS contractor, is standing behind them? If so that would be EXCELLENT news.

·3 years agoIf you already refunded the payment, it's too late to get it back.
But what you should have done was to tell the buyer to open a case for INR (item not received). Once he opened the case, you would put in the tracking number showing delivery to Illinois and you would have won the case and ebay would take care of the buyer.

Which International service are you talking about?
eBay International Shipping or eBay International Standard?
For the former you only need to provide tracking to the US depot, for the later you need proof delivery to the Buyer (this service does come with $100 of insurance).
