I'm having a really hard time grasping this whole scenario here so without us sellers eBay wouldn't exist but yet eBay is going to charge me a fee if I am not meeting up to their expectations. I didn't even know I was working for them so I got to put in my time my stuff run my car my gas to the post office and then eBay is going to find me if I'm not doing a good enough job that's like if I own a car dealership and and you come to work for me then I'm going to charge you every time you sell a car there's something wrong with this it this is like it's backwards than the way things used to be this is wrong it shouldn't be this way I'm really struggling with this stuff on how they can just charge and hold money and put your money in an interest-bearing account and just keep taking my money away it's ridiculous I'm really struggling with this and there's nobody here that can help me with anything I had a return two people sold me fake coins do you think eBay cared and stepped in to assist me with it and no I couldn't use the stepping button because it wasn't there they kept telling me you have to take action you have to take action I'm like well the last email you said was I needed to sit tight and get it wait for a label and you would think that if there are people sellers told me a counterfeit US currency that they would be a **bleep** sure good and well that that the seller at least sent me a label or they would at least tell me well we're waiting for the soda to send you a label instead of take action now like it's my fault I am really upset today

·1 year agoFirst off welcome!
A few things popped into my brain while reading your post. First, think of ebay as your landlord. To open a store or to list an item for sale is like renting space from them. You aren't working for them. They are offering you a service. That's why you pay for a store or you pay a final value fee on (fvf) on your sales. Ebay holds funds for new sellers and for those that have had a long while since they sold something on here. Your money will be released to you. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816&st=3&pos=2&query=Payments%20on%20hold&intent=payout%20policy&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1450.
If you have a problem with a purchase, ALWAYS go to your purchase history, select the item, and choose what you want to do (return, contact seller, etc). There's no such thing as no returns. A customer can return an item if it is not as described or if it is damaged. Once a return is requested, ebay will automatically provide you with a label that you use to return the item. You can request a USPS pick up and have them come to your home or business to get your packages. That will save you a trip to the post office.
You should read the policies and get to know them. You can also ask for assistance on here. This community has a great knowledge of just about everything ebay related. Good luck to you and happy sales!

·1 year agoFirst, you don't look old in your photo. Second, learn how to spell numismatics. Third, nobody buys old sheets of stamps anymore unless they are discounted by at least 50-75% of face value. There is no money to be made in that. Lastly, the few coins that you have up for sale aren't going to attract any buyers. $10 for a plain old quarter?
Your ID shows "learning". I suggest you join a local coin club, join the ANA, talk to a coin dealer, or attend local coin shows in your area. You can also get books from your local and ANA libraries and watch YouTube videos on coin collecting and selling. Selling coins is a great hobby and a way to make some side money. You should pick one or two areas to focus on, like error coins, pennies, etc. You can also make money by buying coins from eBay. Such as error coins that the seller may not know they have. They have books on error coins. Again, pick an area and begin searching eBay for them. I wish you luck!

·1 year agoThis is why when I decided to sell on eBay, I never signed up for the membership store. I am 57 years old. I am a retired nurse on disability and sell to supplement my disability income. I couldn't really afford the monthly membership and decided I would just have to make do without all the perks it brought. After now selling since last May, I am so glad I never signed up with the membership. I honestly do not see how it could have really helped me except maybe get me more sales more often. Because I feel I am doing a pretty dog gone good job at this for not having a clue what I was doing to start out with. But I am not bound to any sales quotas, etc. now either. I decide how much I sell, when I sell, what I sell, etc. Granted, I wish I could get more sales and having an actual membership may help me get those by putting me more into some kind of algorithm to have people see my page for my store more often but who knows- maybe not either. My sales go in spurts. It seems like if I list 5 items, I get 2-3 sales. If I don't list anything my sales dry up. So, I have found I have to keep listing to keep selling. I am now up to over 300 items. I have 24 hours turnaround time and keep all my items in one room of my house sorted according to what they are in Rubbermaid totes ready to ship in the bubble envelopes or boxes since I have to package them anyways to get the accurate weights. My categories are 1. Toys, 2. Breakables, 3. Clothes, 4. Christmas, 5. Pillows/Blankets/Towels, 6. Purses, 7. Shoes, 8. Household items

·1 year agoIt appears you sell a mix of items as I do. I have a store merely to save money on listing fees. Are you paying fees now based on your number of listings? When the math worked that a basic store saved me money, I got a basic one. I don't know what you mean by quotas. You can also sign up for monthly rather than yearly--of course that costs a little more.

·1 year ago@gotogrannysattic I am sorry that you are struggling with ebay with your visual problems. I would recommend ending your listings for now before you have a buyer problem since @pickapaper mentioned all the problems with your listings. I would try to find a trusted person to help you with ebay. Using ebay is computer intensive and there are lots of fields to insert information and small boxes to check which you are obviously having problems with. If you can't find someone to help you, you may have to decide if ebay is the right fit for you. If you have questions, we can try to help as best as possible.

It appears you do not have an understanding of how eBay works, both buying and selling. I just looked at most of your listings of your items for sale. There are problems with almost all of your listings including pricing contradictions, bad photos, omitted details, not saying what the item is in the title, and more. When you sell items, you have to be clear and concise in your titles and descriptions, show only what you are selling (if you are only selling one stamp, only show one stamp in your photos, not a whole sheet), and do research of what your items actually sell for and price competitively.
If you need help with how to correct some of these listing problems, come back here and ask and someone will guide you through it.

When you put a photo of the whole sheet you need to understand your price is for that whole sheet not just one stamp.

Without all sellers, eBay would not exist. Without you, eBay will be just fine.
eBay is going to charge me a fee if I am not meeting up to their expectations
Not only that, but if you continuer to not meet their expectation, you will be suspended from selling.
I didn't even know I was working for them
You do not work for them. You use a service they provide, if they choose to let you continue to use it.
I'm really struggling with this stuff on how they can just charge and hold money
It's all spelled out in the user agreement you signed.
I had a return two people sold me fake coins
I lost the plot after this. Are you the buyer, or the seller?

OP1 year agoIm sorry for venting. I have a hard time not being able to physically communicate when there is a problem for me. Im both a custoer and a 1 week old seller. 2 different sellers sold of me counterfit us currency. Ebay for the past 2 weekstelling me that the sellers were sending labels and to sit tightl Nothinjg, I kept emailing the, nothingm no button to ask ebay to step in. Ithink they must fo been fired because they are no longer using that handle. So if the sellers are fired, who has to pay for the return ? And why doesnt the return have to be sent back to where it originated? How can ebay let it be sent of a far away place? to sant a cruze. BUT the package originated from Mississippi, not santa crus. I paid 6.00 2 times for shipping. Always return shipping is very close to the original price sometins ther fees can contribult. However my package started in the usa, and ebay wants me to send counterfit money , into a foreign countyr, at $75.00 each so 150.00 to recover 65.00 worth of coins, AND COMMIT A FELONY? Couldn't possible be so. Isnt it odd that both sellers use a santa cruze for returns?? Did ebay know this before about the return address and the problem cost to send it back without notifing the customer BEFORE they made a purchase.? What about the 'safe" place?🤣 Iwould never in a million years treat one of my customers with a bait and switch. and no one in the world to speak to. another lady here gave me a link and Im very greatful. I didnt get anthing settled, but im sure my voice was heard. But it would be in ebay best interest to let me send it to them or twhere it originated from. But seriously they really think that I would pay ? NO they hope i closer the case. and just take the hit. Legally I can not mail, travel, have on my property, consiel or own counterfit us currency. Regardless of where it came from. I dont have a problem speaking my mind if I feel that I am right. More than anything Im completely shocked. Nothing to do with the fact I also made in 3 days. You would think..... but no. Peace every . I have seen bigger fall for less!

When you dispute an item for Not As Described, the seller has three choices:
It sounds like your sellers chose the last option. In that case, the seller should have paid for a return which I believe would be sent to you electronically through eBay messages or through the dispute. It would be your responsibility to find the label, print it, and ship the item back to the buyer.
I have never had to return an item using a seller-issued label, so I am hoping someone else will chime in and explain that process to you.
Nothinjg, I kept emailing the, nothingm no button to ask ebay to step in.
You mentioned "email". How were you being notified about this? Messages from eBay should be coming to you through the eBay message system, not through "email". Did you give your email address to the seller? It is possible the seller is sending you fake emails pretending to be eBay.

·1 year agoSounds like you are below ebay standards because your buyers are not happy with the or you are cancelling sales. Ebay allows you the privilege to list and sell your items on their popular site. Ebay wants your buyers to be happy. Ebay does not want sellers who are not performing up to par to run buyers away from buying on ebay.

·1 year ago@gotogrannysattic
There are a lot of old people who sell on eBay. Some of us are REALLY old. It has nothing to do with anything.
If I understood what you were saying, you bought some coins on eBay that turned out to be fakes. eBay has a Money Back Guarantee so all you have to do is go to your Seller Hub and find the item, on the drop down menu it says "return this item" and "not as described". The seller will have to send you a label to return the item and when they get the item back, will issue you a refund. If they do not, you can ask eBay to step in and they will force a return. Also, if you are going to sell on eBay, you need to know how the Money Back Guarantee works, so you are familiar with it from both sides.
It sounds like you think eBay should give you personalized one-on-one coaching but that is not going to happen. There are 18 Million sellers on eBay. Basically, they give you the tools/rules/policies to work with and you figure it out yourself. If you do have problems, you are better off coming here to ask for help as there are many experienced and knowledgeable people on this board.

·1 year agoGood advice @pickapaper . Too late for the eBay return. OP started a lot of different threads and on one of them said they already jumped to a credit card payment dispute. eBay's out of the picture on that one.
They are also complaining about having to pay 2% for ad fees, even though advertising is voluntary. Not sure what other selling issues they might be having.

·1 year ago@wastingtime101
I have not seen any of OP's other threads so didn't know about them.
As far as selling issues, I only looked at one listing that @susanb1872 pointed out, where the picture shows a sheet of stamps and the listing price says $2.00 but in the description it says $2.00 per stamp. Unless OP fixes that, someone could buy it for $2.00 thinking they were going to get the whole sheet and then we all know what a can of worms that will lead to.
susanb1872
·1 year agoI just looked at your full sheet of Workers Compensation Stamps. You do realize that you have listed the entire sheet for $2.00 and not $2.00 apiece? You can't say in your description the full sheet is $100. Same problem with the Lafayette stamps -per sheet or per stamp?

·1 year agoActually without buyers eBay wouldn't exist.
You are paying eBay to sell on their site and with that comes living up to eBays seller standards.
When you fall below standard eBay give sellers penalties as an incentive to improve customer service.
All new and infrequent sellers will experience payout holds from 14 to 30 days.
This is eBay's site, we all play by their rules or move on.
Your issue with the return is something else entirely. When you open a not as described, I assume thats what you did, the seller has 2 days to issue a return label or refund. If you don't receive either one you can go back to the return request after 4 days to click "Ask eBay to step in".
If too much time has passed and the return closed you can file a chargeback through your credit card.
ETA: Paragraphs and punctuation goes a long way for people to read or understand your post. I had break it up line by line to decipher that wall of text.
wastingtime101
·1 year agoeBay provides a platform with a global buyer base. That's part of the service you pay for.
eBay has seller standards to try and keep that buyer base and not lose them over bad buying experiences. When you don't meet those standards, eBay charges additional fees until you get your account back in shape. It wasn't that long ago eBay used to just boot those sellers permanently with no second chance.
If you're having a problem with a specific transaction I suggest either coming here for help, or learning how it works, otherwise you'll end up with cases closed without seller resolution, unhappy buyers, a below standard rating, and higher fees.
If you are below standard and don't improve, eBay will permanently suspend you.
Want help? Ask questions. (Please use paragraphs.)
Just want to vent? Go ahead. Won't change anything with your account, but maybe it will make you feel better.

·1 year agoI am not good at charades but let me see if I can understand the problem.
I think the answer is Infrequent sellers or new sellers usually there is a 30 day hold on funds.
And you can return something even if seller states 'no returns...in 30 days.
reallynicestamps
·1 year ago@12345jamesstamps
And you can return something even if seller states 'no returns...in 30 days.
Not exactly.
The seller can have a No Returns policy.
The seller can refuse the return of any purchase.
The seller cannot refuse to refund the buyer's payment on a disputed purchase.
I'm fussy about that.
There are cheap items I don't want to pay to get back, because tracked International shipping is expensive for us non-US sellers.
I'd rather have the customer dispose of the unwanted item and refund.
I also work in a very honest category.

It does not matter whether you physically put pen to paper on an agreement.
When you registered for Managed Payments and listed an item here you agreed to the terms of eBay's User Agreement.
If you chose not to actually read those terms, that is on you not eBay.
wastingtime101
·1 year agoEvery time you list an item you consent to the user agreement, payment terms, marketing terms, privacy notice, and fee structure. There are links to all of these agreements before you click "list it."
You'll see similar links shown before you make a purchase and perform other actions on this site. Every retail site and online marketplace operates this way, even the ones where you make arrangements to buy/sell/trade in person.
You need to read what you're agreeing to, and if you can't see you can always download an app that will read it out loud to you. Get help from friend/family/neighbor. Zoom your screen size.
Don't just assume because you didn't see or chose to ignore something that the rules don't apply to you. Every site is going to have an agreement, especially when a financial transaction is involved. To believe otherwise is to your own detriment. This is information you should seek out.
I'll echo what another person said above and suggest you de-list all of your items until you read all the policies and understand them. In addition to all of those policies linked on the listing form, you'll find more here related to all manner of buying and selling topics: https://www.ebay.com/help/home
