oh man i mixed up two shipments

Never fails.
Buyer A got Item for Buyer B
And Buyer B got Buyer A's item.

Buyer B has not contacted me but Buyer A has.
Fortunately they're relatively inexpensive trinkets, so I accepted Buyer A's return AND am sending out the correct product in the morning at no extra cost. I also contacted Buyer B and let them know what happened, informed that buyer they could open a return for a full refund and I'm sending them the correct product in the morning also at no additional cost.

I really hate that, it happens every so often but now with sales as slow as they are...

UPDATE...
So the first buyer is very happy and has shipped the return already.

The second buyer just contacted me and said they got the correct order...
And I just sent another out, so I told them they get another free.
Oh boy...

I don't understand, I must've been half asleep that day...
Lessons learned:
Deal with returns one at a time and don't assume there was a mixup just because buyer A received items that someone else (also) ordered that day.

For me, it's "never happens".

I put one order on the table, verify it, package it, print the label, and attach the label.

I never allow another order to be physically positioned where it could get mixed up.

Never work on more than one order at a time, From start to finish & than you won't have this happen. It's the best way to avoid this type of problem.

Hahaha yeah... But I can only print SCAN sheets through the bulk shipping method.
Maybe Pirate ship, but all that adds complexity to what should be a simple thing.
Can't win either way, I either spend more time every order or I risk a mixup about once a year or two.

You don't have to print all of your shipping labels at once in order to print a scan sheet. A scan sheet is a closeout for the day.

According to the page for the Scan form:

"USPS labels you buy in Bulk Shipping will be automatically included in a SCAN form here before you generate and print it."

Yes, it will include labels printed that way for the whole day, but I think that's what broto meant by it either taking longer (since the bulk shipping tool isn't efficient for single orders) or risking a mixup.

@broto_64 I'm sorry this happened. I've never mixed up two orders, but I have sent a similar but incorrect item. I applaud you for taking responsibility and immediately taking care of your buyers. If that metric could be measured in this situation, I wouldn't be shocked of 90% of sellers don't do the right thing and instead make things more difficult.

Don't be shocked if you don't hear from Buyer B. They may like Buyer's A item better. Since you've already sent out the correct item, which I do empheize is a good thing, they may keep both. Something like that may have them come shop with you again.

I have either ChatGPT or Gemini create it. This one was created by Gemini. I did not like the versions ChatGPT had. They were too busy and not as funny.
