Off Site Promoted Listings-Promoting Already Sold Items
I just saw an item I sold about a month ago being promoted by eBay on the MSN news site. Checked out another promo item and it was also sold. What value are we getting for paying for promotion of sold items?

If they are in an Offsite Ads cost per click campaign, then I can see this being an issue because you would still be being charged for clicks to an item that can't possibly convert to a sale because it has already been sold.
If they are in a General cost per sale campaign and are being shown in external placements, it's still not ideal because a potential buyer will be disappointed when they click through and find the item is not available, but at least it should not cost the seller anything because General ads only have a fee applied if there is a sale.
The caveat to that is that with Halo attribution, if a buyer clicks through on a General ad to an item that is no longer available, then goes on to browse your other items and purchases a different item which is also enrolled in a General ad campaign, you will be charged the ad fee on *that* sale - but at least a sale would have been made in that scenario so it's not like you're paying an ad fee for nothing.

·1 year agoPromoting off-site is a waste of money. I don't know why sellers do it

Other times, hiding under the table works.

·1 year agoSo does that mean that promoting on site is worth it?

·1 year agoI noticed this issue with my sold items too, so I deleted and edited the promotions since the sold items were still linked to an active promotion. I am no longer seeing any of my promoted items now. 😶
They didn’t automatically get removed from the promotion after being sold.

·1 year agoI don't promote and occasionally I see our ads on MSN as well. Did you try to click the link? It is probably google or something trying to get you to their ad service.
