Not getting OFFERS emailed to my home email account

Question

Greetings. Until several months ago I would get an offer emailed to my Outlook email. So far, I've lost out

on three offers due to them not being sent to me but I could only see them in my eBay email. How do I fix this?

I found my answer after a long week of research. If nothing else works, get on your Android or other IOS phone and open the eBay app. I did this and found that notifications were "blocked". I changed that and now time will tell if that was the problem. I'm very confident that is the solution.

While I haven't had a problem getting offers from sellers, I have had a few instances of not getting notifications that an item sold.

I check my ebay account every morning to see if anything has sold so I didn't miss it.

If you've missed the deadline to take advantage of the offer, try sending an offer to the seller if they have offers enabled, or send them a message in the ebay message system.

The key to information theory, a la Claude Shannon, is redundancy. You need to use both Ebay and your e-mail to confirm information.

Like @luckythewinner said...there are too many points between where the email originates and where it ends up to be reliable 100% of the time. If all the other preferences checkout OK that is the problem.

Seriously, I can open ebay Seller Hub and look faster than I can open my email and peruse the incoming mail so I guess I don't get it........

Assuming that your email address has not changed and your eBay communication preferences have not changed:

There are dozens if not hundreds of applications, servers, routers, networks, and filters sitting between eBay's email system and your in box. Any of them could be the issue.

Check your spam and trash folders to make sure something in your email client is not filtering them out. You may need to figure out the email address eBay is sending them from and mark it as "trusted" in your email software. Also check your email provider's settings and /or contact their tech support to see if anything has changed at their end.

IMHO email notifications are a convenience, not a source to be trusted because eBay does not control 90% of the path an email takes.

SO IMHO you did not lose out on three offers because you did not get emails, you lost out on three offers because you do not check your eBay account every day.

NEVER depend on emails.......always check ON ebay for messages and sales.......emails can go astray/be lost/never be sent........
