Non receipt of item claims.
I had a buyer file a non-receipt of item that had shipped and for which a tracking number had been provided. A winter storm on Jan 16 caused a postage pileup in Indianapolis. Instead of contacting me, the buyer filed a claim and Ebay gave me 3 days to resolve the issue before I would be forced to issue a refund. Luckily, after I filed a lost package search to the USPS and contacted the buyer to explain that Ebay has no influence over the USPS, the buyer closed the claim to allow me time to locate the package, which I did and it is now again on its way. My complaint is about that tiny 3-day window I am allowed before that non-receipt claim affects both my profit and my seller status. In cases where a tracking number has been provided, Ebay should instruct a buyer to contact the seller first, and only if the seller is non-responsive should the claim move forward. I am wondering if this has happened to other sellers?

·7 months agoYou don't have to refund within 3 days. You simply have to provide the tracking information within 3 days. Ebay only auto-refunds if you are unresponsive.
Buyers don't have to contact the seller first, this is not and has never been a requirement.

·7 months agoI never bother uploading a tracking # on a undelivered item because that does not resolve the case and you are then subject to a seller unresolved case hit if the buyer askes ebay to help.

·7 months agoever since ebay started reimbursing sellers when they refund a INR and it is later delivered I just refund as soon as the INR is opened.
The items are usually eventually delivered, buyer gets the item free, they are happy, seller gets paid with no possibilities of a return or bad fb.
