Non paying buyer - order disappeared
A buyer sent an offer. I accepted the offer. Then it showed as "pending" but was still listed for sale. I saw no option to send an invoice. The following day, I sent an email to the buyer reminding them to pay. The third day I sent a reminded telling them the item was still for sale to others until paid. On the fourth day, the buyer contacted me asking how to pay. I looked and the "pending" has disappeared and it says the offer "expired". So now there's no sale and no repercussions for the buyer not paying in a timely manner. I never requested the sale be cancelled nor did the buyer. Is this how it's supposed to work now?

·2 years agoI have had several like this recently on buyer made counter-offers.
If I accept, I have been messaging the buyer that I accepted their counter offer and that the item didn't go into my solds... that anyone else can come and purchase it... first to pay, wins.
I don't know what the buyer sees on their end, so I just opt to send a quick message.
As far as I can tell, Ebay has not formally explained this situation. If they did, can someone point me to it? Thanks.

This has been going on for many many months. The procedures were changed often. A seller would SEND offers to the same buyer who had to pay immediately for some, or could accept others sent by the same seller in the same session. The only information we EVER got for the seemingly random bizarreness was from sellers and buyers sharing information and screen shots with each other. We have eBay staff on these boards, and they were tagged repeatedly for months, and we were simply ghosted. As far as this program they are still apparently not allowed to talk about it, and from recent posts eBay may not be done PLAYING around.
Here is an old thread that shows some screenshots that illustrate the variety/randomness that was going on. If I recall correctly, the first post shows a "buyer's view". Most of the discussions that occurred when the "daisies" really started to hit the fan around here are lengthily and tedious, but eventually we sort of figured out what was up.....even though it changed again and again.
Though it is just my opinion, these "Buyer Rules" were very effective in getting rid of buyers in general. eBay had to back up, and actually turned off the ones that required a buyer to put up a payment source in order to bid for a couple of months. Its back, and eBay is actively forcing more buyers to comply or go away.
I don't know if this is the one that had posts of angry sellers and buyers accusing posters of being eBay employees or not......LOL...I know that this one also had some interesting information if you can ignore the rest:

The OP in this post was a seller who had the Buyer Rules turned off, yet her buyers were being sent offers/counter offers/or accepted offers that required immediate payment anyway.
