No wonder ebay doesn't have a dedicated CS number you can call.
Summary: The discussion revolves around sellers expressing frustration with eBay's lack of a dedicated customer service number, attributing it to trivial and frequent customer service calls. inhawaii mentions some common, sometimes amusing reasons sellers call support, like slow sales and algorithm questions. Other participants recall similar calls for trivial issues, with duffy4444 emphasizing the importance of reading policies and using common sense instead of contacting support. mam98031 points out that while eBay's support structure changed during the pandemic, options to contact them still exist.
Being a regular here on the selling board and reading all the ridiculous reasons sellers call customer service, no wonder there is no dedicated customer service number or US based customer service reps.
"Hello eBay, I'm calling you because my sales are slow. What's going on with the algorithm?"
There are many, many, many more, but that one is my favorite.

·1 week agoThat isn't why, but it is a good reason. During the pandemic when Ebay had to shut down the Call Centers, they soon discovered it was cheaper to have CS work from home. There are a lot of advantages to a company for doing this.
Ebay can be reached. There is the ability to ask someone from Ebay to call you. There are options for customer service, just many, without even looking for it, assume it doesn't exist.

·1 week agoI don't blame eBay at all for no longer having a phone number. It would have to double its staff just to answer calls over trivial, common sense, hand-holding issues like "Why are my sales so slow?" and "Why is eBay allowing shipping fees to become too high?"
Way too many buyers and sellers don't want to READ and become familiar with eBay's policies before picking up the phone and complaining. I can see this continuing to happen in the posts on this forum, too.
In the 28+ years I've been buying and selling here, I've only had to get hold of a live eBay Rep twice. The rest of the time common sense, READING eBay's policies, drilling down, and occasionally using the eBay community Selling and Shipping forums have been all I needed.
The rise in laziness and blame-placing is a societal issue that isn't getting any better, IMHO.
Cheers, Duffy

·1 week agoI remember a post from pre-pandemic. Member stated they called eBay just to chat. It was a loneliness deal. Needed to talk to someone.
