no weather forgiveness?
Normally there would be something on the announcements about how the winter weather is going to result in forgiveness on late shipments by sellers but... absolute silence this week. I don't know about you, but the street in front of my house is solid white and I'm not leaving the house today. (I'm in Texas, and no I don't care what people up north have to say.)
I'm messaging the customers on my orders, but I'm looking at the distinct possibility of my first late shipments in years while I'm trapped in my house for another day. What gives, eBay?

·8 months agoHere is your reminder that any time of year, you can still get late shipment defects removed using this link:
https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/defect
Do NOT choose "I shipped on time and have proof"
Instead, choose "Something outside my control". This works if you get a late shipment defect because of inclement weather, USPS neglecting to scan your parcel from their dropoff bin in a timely manner, or any other emergency. As long as you don't abuse this feature, it will get your late shipment defect removed every single time.
Bookmark that link, and pass it on, as this gets asked about DAILY on here.

·8 months agoI'm "up north" and Toronto (Canada) got 2 feet of snow yesterday. They said it will take a week to dig out the city. In the entire winter since November where I live, we've seen an accumulation of almost 6 feet of snow. We're supposed to be used to it, but cars are still getting stuck, roads aren't being properly cleared, I've fallen twice in my driveway from slippery ice and snow (once resulted in an ER visit because I hit my head).
It's all a question of what weather your area is accustomed to having and Texas is not used to seeing snow.

OP8 months agoIt should be top of the headlines on Seller Hub, above the anemic January Seller Update.

·8 months agoPlease note this also affects sellers outside the storm areas that have packages going into the storm areas. They will be delayed as well once they reach those places.

·8 months agoI agree that normally they would have given an announcement about it, Because even USPS has stated that there are delays, I have let my customers know about the delays & I have been shipping within 1 day, I just Hope nothing arrives late or at least not very late!

·8 months agoWe knew this was coming for a week or so, so sellers should have prepared before.
Had plenty of time to shut down and get orders shipped before it hit.

·8 months agoI started hearing about the potential of this storm in the middle of last week.
I had plenty of time to extend my handling time, turn on vacation mode, or end my listings.

·8 months agoI don't understand these sellers that wait until the last minute, then whine because they can't ship orders.

OP8 months agoYeah, I have a real rep for shipping problems... *eyeroll*
Everything got out on Friday, thanks. The problem is the forecast was originally that Monday we'd see melting and I could get out and ship, but that changed.
Also, oh yeah, and this is the thing... literally EVERY weather condition, they make an announce on the front page of Seller Hub that there will be forgiveness. Their communication this time sucked. But here you guys are accusing me of being an amateur to puff up yourselves.

·8 months agoDid they suspend USPS mail delivery in your area, if not, they also pick up packages.
