No views, no watchers, but Ebay says "Send Offer"

I've noticed this over the last month. I have items with zero views and zero watchers, but eBay has the "Send offer" option for these items. How can I send an offer when nobody has looked at an item?
Has anyone else noticed this or have an explanation? Thanks.

·3 months agoThis happens to me quite often and my take is that there is a delay in ebay's display of valid views and/or watchers.
Though I do not often send out offers, When I do those offers actually go to someone 99% of the time.
Occasionally out of a 100 and some offers that I can send, one will come back and say that it is not eligible.
In that case I can only imagine that it was a glitch or that there is not an interested party.
I believe that there is indeed a delay between an actual view and when ebay shows the seller that there has been a view.

·3 months agoI get this allll the time and I honestly feel it’s a way for us to keep listing our items thinking someone is watching, thereby creating more fees for us. (o”

·2 years agoYes I notice that all the time, It makes it very hard to trust the actual views & watchers & basically all the stats!

·2 years agoI have seen this.
I now sort the list of items that are able to send offers by the column with the number of watchers.
The ones that say 0 I skip and I do not send an offer.
I do not let ebay automatically send offers - this is why.
Because if you allow ebay to send offers to your entire list, folks will get offers because they clicked the item to view but never clicked the watch button. (These are the 0s on the list.) And they get frustrated with the onslaught of offers from things they don't even want to watch.
My list is growing of 0 (watchers) every day. I have assumed as I said above it is folks that clicked to view but did not click to keep watching.
Hope this makes sense.

Has anyone else noticed this or have an explanation? Thanks.
Yes. I have noticed within the past couple weeks.
eBay is continually making new changes. eBay is continually introducing "glitches". Either one of these could create the situation you describe. For whatever reason, eBay keeps most of these changes from sellers so it is unlikely you will know the real cause for certain.
At first "Send offer" was for watchers. Now "Send offer" is for anybody who "breathes" on a listing. Items that were clicked on, loved, added to cart and who knows what else (eBay does)?
I do see more complaints in the forums about annoying unwanted offers. I do receive many offers for items I am just checking for determining my prices (sorry other sellers - not going to accept your offers 😪).
eBay really needs to let sellers choose who the offers are going to (ie Watchers, Clickers (not the zombies), Item in cart etc., but eBay doesn't listen to me - just a 20+ year Top-Rated-Seller.
I have stopped using "Send offer" as much knowing it currently just annoys potential buyers who are not watching an item, but just happened to click or view an item. And many offers are just going to other sellers checking prices. 🙄

·2 years agoHow many items are we talking about where this has happened?
I think buyers can add an item too their cart without viewing it. And an item sitting in a cart is one of the criteria for "send offer".
Also IMHO the view count that eBay shows the seller has not always been reliable.

OP2 years agoAt least 20 of my items listed have this issue, but I haven't gone through all of them.

The same thing for me. No views, no watchers but send an offer? Why? People are just window shopping so to speak and some how eBay has implemented window shopping as a possible sale? What ever. 🙄 So you send an offer and get this message..."There are no offers on this item." Huh??? It's ridiculous and a waste of time if you ask me. JMO.

·2 years agoWe have noticed the same thing as well. We just assumed it was another change.
Example: We listed a very nice brand named pair of sandals yesterday afternoon. Today we have 3 watchers and 0 views?? In the former days the views were listed, and it made sense.
We are ready to take best offer off of everything. That is all we seem to get anymore is "send offer".
Our 2024 plan was to keep building our shop, keep enjoying what we do.
We Love eBay & our customers. We are just hoping it gets better, & better.
Thanks

·2 years agoJust a follow up. We did remove the "Or Best offer" from our listings. We have had 25 send your best offer in the last three days. Some with 0 views, so it is different than it used to be. But, no sales.
We just keep listing.

·2 years agoIt's possible the buyer put it on watch without a view, and the bots captured this. Then the buyer removed the watch, and the bots didn't care. To the bots (Ebay) it's still a live possibility, so you receive "send offer" even though there are now zero views and zero watches. Isn't that about Ebay's mindset? 🙂
jerzee908
OP2 years agoWell that is a more logical reply than the last one. I've been receiving offers on items I look at, but not because I've watched/liked/loved and I'm assuming it comes up as a view on the other sellers end? Or maybe it doesn't? Thanks for the reply.

·2 years agoJust offering a possible explanation.
If your items are not getting any views it's because nobody is interested in them -or- it's a ebay glitch.
Most sellers wont admit that nobody is interested in what they are selling and tend to blame a glitch.
jerzee908
OP2 years agoI really do not think you are understanding the issue and the items I am referring to were listed in the last day or so. Take a shot at someone else on this forum.

·2 years agoRead their question - If you have a Answer, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
I have no explanation but will start looking at mine closer to see if the same thing his happening.
A guess would that there is a delay in the views and/or watchers
jerzee908
OP2 years agoJust to give a visual, but I listed this item an hour ago. No views, 1 watcher, but it says to send an offer. The second item has no views, no watchers and also says to send an offer. It doesn't make sense.

inhawaii
·2 years agoExplanation:
The "send offer" notification that ebay sends is automated.
You're still getting the notification even though your items have no views or watchers.
jerzee908
OP2 years agoSo I have items with zero views and zero watchers with no "Send offer" option and then I have items with zero views and zero watchers with the "Send offer" option. Who is this offer going to if nobody looked at the item? Also, if what you are saying is true, what is the purpose? Are "views" not showing up because of some eBay glitch?
inhawaii
·2 years agoYou asked.
I answered.
Sorry if you felt i was "taking a shot" at you.
I wasn't.
jerzee908
OP2 years agoNo, you implied I had no views and that I was blaming a glitch for having undesirable items. Are you saying there has never been an issue with ebay not showing views on listings? Because in the 25 years that I have been successfully selling my undesirable items on here, that has been the case MANY times. If you don't have the answer to a question or can't offer an explanation without taking a shot at someone, skip the question.

·2 years agoWithin the last year or two ebay has changed the way views are shown.
They used to include bot views but now only reflect actual views.
Anyone not aware of this may think there was a problem or glitch with views.
Sorry if you don't like my answers/explanations.
I will refrain from adding anything further.
jerzee908
OP2 years agoThis answer should of been your first reply and I should of stated that the items I was referring to were just listed in the last few days and not sitting on my page for the last year or so. Water under the bridge. Have a good day.

·2 years agoU just really don't understand what the oP is asking do you?
selsa84
·2 years agoThey are asking why they'd be able to send an offer on an item with no views or watchers. And if there is an issue or glitch to where the watcher is showing on the send offer. I know the " nobody wants ur stuff" is ur go-to answer but use it where it applies. Your not being helpful at all cause they werent complaining about no views or watchers, just trying to understand how an offer can be send when an item has no views or watchers.
