No Sales for 2 Weeks @ members
Ok I am just wondering but Am I the only one with NO sales for the last 2 weeks? The most I have ever gone without a sale is a couple of days.... Now nothing. I have 100% approval rating, Ebay also just rated me a top seller. And now nothing, very disappointing.

·4 months agoI have 1336 active listings with big variety of stuff and many "watchers". My sales are never brisk but I don't recall ever having a two-week stretch without a single sale, until now. I feel that there is something going on with eBay, maybe a software bug, maybe some switch for some criterion I'm not meeting (like not buying into promotions or something like that), I don't know. Their automated system told me that there's nothing wrong with my account. If I don't get a sale soon then I'll try to get ahold a person at eBay. I stopped calling them a few years back as they seem always unable or unwilling to take the simplest of actions. But I may give it a go. Perhaps I'll have my wife try to buy something and see how that goes.
'Rather discouraging. I put a fair amount of time into eBaying and it's really feeling like a waste of time lately. The wife says trash it all or donate it to Goodwill. 'Might have to think about that.

·4 months agoJust wanted to let you know you are not alone. Long time seller and March and April were my worst months ever. I hope it changes in May - I'm considering closing up my shop -- it's been fun and rewarding, but I'm actually getting a bit depressed. I love when something I find is passed along to someone else at a great price - but can't afford to sit on inventory as this is a source of income for me. Best of Luck to you and everyone feeling the pain- and congrats to those that say they are doing their best sales. Just comforting a little to know I'm not alone.

·5 months ago@victoriansal , I feel your pain. I also agree with those suggesting to continue to add listings. I got the same response. I continue to add every day and now that I have hit the 100 mark, my goal is to continue to push that number up as well. I have been disappointed in sales, but realized I am around the same number as in previous years at this time. BTW, you have some lovely listings- hopefully the tide will turn!

·5 months agoI know you will get all the pat answers. But, Yes. There is something going on with Ebay sales in general. Many of us veteran sellers see it. There have always been ups and downs over the years. But, Ebay is trying to survive the changing worlwide marketplace as well. Some changes they make affect many of us.
It's hard to stay ahead of it.
I sell similar items as you. I've done various inventory over the years. I do understand retail and online. But, we are living in changing times and I'm trying to stay relevant. Good luck.

Even in vintage jewelry sales can be seasonal.
Also looking at your Items Sold for the past three months, yes, you do seem to have a sale every other day, but it also seems to average out to about 15 + sales a month.
Try , for your own mental health, to look at your numbers monthly, rather than daily.
The other suggestions are common. List daily. Use Best Offer. Use Targetted Best Offer.
And skip the AI . Your own Description is more attractive and more useful.

·5 months agoOverall Sales are slow but I am selling "one of a kind" or "few of a kind" Children's Books. I just marked all my books down and they are selling...about 10.00 & under. I have 100' s of these books that I bought many years ago. Some dated early 1900's but most selling are from the 1970's +. It is a chore to list them but pictures pay off.
Many people looking for that favorite childhood book. There are still collectors out there for old books and they do sell...little by little.
I know I am "old school" but hope this advice helps someone.

·5 months agoHi Victorian, No your not alone. My sales drought is around 7-10 days and is most unusual . try not to get discouraged. When I hit these no sale times I try to list more items. If you have a certain item you prefer to sell check out latest sold to see if it is moving. I have cut my prices and sent offers . nothing so far. I look at economy and inflated prices on most everything and think maybe ppl don't have the extra money right now. hang in there.

·5 months agoMarch was a pretty lousy month for online selling across many platforms. In the last 2 weeks on Marketplace, I made $30. 11 straight days without a sale. I, already, have 5 sales lined up for the beginning of April. April will see an improvement. We need it before summer slowdown. Good luck!

·5 months agoIt's slow for everybody, the gas costs are eating into peoples expendable income. I can't do much on lowering my prices since E-bay manages to weasle in their rates where I'm only getting at most 50% of the actual sales dollar amount total over to me, with smaller ticket items, I get around 30% or less.
I do have a website so just pouring more into that to help increase sales, at least I don't get gouged and I'm not at the gun for the crazy shipping time ebay expects.

·5 months agoI've had sales, but I have noticed the past few days a lot less on eBay. But I've been selling a lot on Poshmark to the point I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Almost like all my eBay sales moved all of a sudden.
I'm personally having a lot of issues with the eBay app right now, since yesterday morning, where I get a lot of errors and can't search items. I updated the eBay app the day before yesterday, so maybe that is affecting some buyers?
I also noticed issues on the site in general with the live event they were hosting last week.

·5 months agoIt's really starting to drive me crazy having to swipe the error message off every time I open the app or refresh it 😅
Now even this forum is having trouble loading for me. I'm not having technical issues on any other marketplace app or any other websites, just eBay's. Poshmark just completely changed their app and I haven't noticed any issues with them. I'd like to report the app issues, but the shake to report feature isn't working right now either.

·5 months agoJust keep adding stuff, the sales are going to be little erratic right now, soon as this 3 week operation in Iran is all over your sales will come back, after 9/11 I did not sell anything for 2 weeks straight, still my longest drought in history, the only way I sell anything now is on discount. Items I sold 2 years ago for $15 are now $8 so who said there is inflation.

·5 months agoI see 23 sold items items for this account in January, which is .74 items per day.
I see no sales on Jan 3, 5-6, 9-11, 13, 20-24, 26-27, and 30, which is 48% of Jan.
I see 11 sold items sold items for this account in Feb, which is .39 sales per day.
I see no sales on Feb 4-5, 7, 9, 11-19, 22-25, and 28, which is 64% of Feb.
I see 16 sold items for this account in Mar, which is .52 sales per day.
I see no sales on Mar 4-6, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 19-29, which is 54% of Mar.
When looking at your sales from month to month, I see no significant decline.
IMHO focusing on the spacing of sales within a month is not the best way to measure your sales.
But to answer the question you asked ... no, I do nothing you are the only seller whose sales are not uniformly spaced out. My sales are very steady but they are not uniformly spaced out either.

Yet in just the past couple months, the seller had many spells longer than a couple days, including one that was 11 days long!
So clearly the OP did not have that data, unless you think he intentionally made a claim that wasn't true.

100% positive buyer feedback does not guarantee sales. Being a Top Rated Seller does not guarantee sales.
As @bonanza125 said, it comes down to supply and demand. Sloppy sellers who have 5-word titles, a single stock photo, 96% feedback, and funky metrics still make sales every single day -- if they are offering items that are in demand and aren't oversaturated on the platform.
That is a tough pill to swallow. It is bitter because to accept it means, as sellers, we have to change because we are doing something wrong. Nobody wants to admit that, understandably. Look at any seller who is successful today, and they all have one thing in common: they had to change, adjust, and accept they didn't know everything. That applies to those who sell here, but to anybody who owns a business. eBay, the economy in general, the cost of shipping, and buyers are rarely at fault. They are shiny targets to blame though. Even when it is a combination of factors, sellers are still the main ones who are responsible for their poor sales. Refusing to accept responsibility only hurts you.
I have worked very hard over the past year to get my average sales price to almost $40.00. To get there, I had to purge my store of junk and bad buys. There is still more to do on that front. I had to be more selective with sourcing. If I am going to pick up a low-dollar item to flip, it has to either be new or in excellent used condition. No cleaning, no testing, etc. I need to be able to list it quickly. It has to be easy to ship, too. It is one thing for me to spend 30-minutes or more on an item I'm going to flip for more than $100. I can't do that for items that will flip for $10. I've even run across things in my death pile that will suck my time, and I've either tossed them, dontated them, or put them in the pile for my go at live selling later this year.
Weekend sales have been excellent over the past few weeks. People are getting those tax refunds, and they are shopping on eBay. Make no mistake about it.
What I do notice is that YoY my number of buyers is only up 1.3%. It should be higher considering last year at this time I had roughly 800 items listed, and I have over 1,400 now. My gross and net sales do not reflect that there has been a lack of buyers though. Those numbers are way up YoY. What is saving me is the fact that I've gotten my average sales price up.
Hang in there. Keep moving forward. Tomorrow is another day. You may wake up in the moring to a half-dozen sales. I hope everybody does. You've got this!

How many sellers today can't get a nickel for a Beanie Baby regardless of how they drop price, lower shipping, provide better descriptions and more pictures, etc. Sometimes all the hard work you sellers have to do simply doesn't work.

·5 months agoYou are right. The problem today is a lot of sellers think they can list anything and it will sell. As an expierment I listed one Beanie Baby three years ago to see how long it will take for someone to buy it. Still waiting. That doesn't mean you shouldn't list any beanie babies. They do decent in lots. Individual ones that are special, like maybe given out at a certain college football game, do okay. I've sold several lots of the McDonalds beanie babies. There are some niche markets that will flip in a reasonable amount of time. You aren't going to make millions on them.
But yeah, you have to rethink what you are listing and what you are investing your time in. It is a learning curve. Where people mess up is they refuse to make any changes and blame the external factors that are beyond their control.

i agree with all you have said, but would welcome you looking at my (admittedly few) listings since I’ve gotten back on eBay and tell me why I have many views and a few sales of a certain item and literally ZERO views of a completely equivalent item.
it honestly makes no sense.
i have reduced some of my good items (new Disney mini backpacks) to auctions beginning at 99cents, no reserve, and guess what? No views. Other people selling THE EXACT SAME ITEM have a bunch of views and even sales of same items at very high price. I don’t understand.

I agree, and I don’t think anyone is trying to blame buyers. I certainly don’t because I believe if Disney fanatics were able to actually see my items, I’d sell them all, and at good prices.
My problem is with eBay. I blame them for not allowing people to see my items. Somehow some of my items get hidden.
I’ve done the promotion thing in the past but it does not seem to make any difference in my sales.

·4 months agoSomeone driving 12,000 miles a year and getting 25 miles per gallon might be spending an extra $15 a week on gas. Someone that is really worried about gas prices might actually cut back on driving enough so that his actual gas expenditure is less. Understood that some people might feel the pinch – but overall this is not a material issue.

·5 months agoComes down to price and demand. Check to see if your prices are correct. If you are overpriced you will not get sales. If you don't see a whole lot of the same item being sold then there isn't much demand. As @lakefor94 stated if you don't constantly list stuff then things can slow down. It could take months or years for some particular items to sell.

·3 months agoIt appears that ebay has something to do with the way sales go. There are people out that claim it's because we didn't post it properly or price is to high or shipping is to high. Some claim you need better pictures or more pictures, or you have to change your inventory. Some people think they know more then others. Sorta like NFL Jet fans. They claim that their team is gonna beat all the teams they have to play. They say we are gonna win, Our team has so and so and they can't be beat, emphasis on the words we and ours and cant. Like they are part or play for the teams. Everyone thinks they know more then others. Some tell you that you have to Promote the items. Been there and done that. Put it this way I have never sold anything thru Promotion. I tried almost every thing that people claimed and basicly went no where. I have been doing Ebay since 2002 and I have noticed that anytime Ebay makes changes selling starts to drop. The one thing I do believe is our items for sale are only shown in certain areas in the U.S. Most of my sales have been in California, Florida and Texas. I have had 1 sale in Georgia and 1 in Louisianna in the past 6 months. Those were rare. I have also notice when your are selling an item and you look up others that are selling the same item you will find that there are watcher on these items and you will have no watchers or looks. Now I know watchers don't mean buyers but why aren't they looking at yours? It's kind weird. Another thing I notice when ever you come on this Community Site and ask a question or make a complaint, with in a couple of days after that you will all of a sudden pick up a sale or 2 and then they will stop again. Those are some of the things I can think of right now. Im not claiming that I am right. Im just saying that these are things I notice through the years. I dont know every thing and dont claim to have the answers like some of the geniuses out there. I would be waisting your time and mine trying to tell you what to do. All I can say is try paying attention to things that change and whether it effects the sales.

·5 months agoI’m pretty sure that was likely the first thing posted on the eBay forums, actually. Slow sales are probably by far the most common complaint, but nothing is new over the last day/week/month/year, it’s just sales. Sometimes it’s just the ebb and flow of selling, sometimes you need to change something, but it’s not up to anyone else to fix something.
