No help only hurt from eBay selling experience
I was registered eBay account from 2013, and my husband registered from 2012, we both are honest Australians.
Few months ago, we started selling Microsoft software, but eBay suddenly closed my husband's account permanently and restricted my sales. The reason is that our Microsoft software does not comply with eBay regulations.
All of the Microsoft software sold on your site is identical and I can say with certainty that they all come from the same country. Since you're not allowed to sell Microsoft software, why only block individual accounts instead of all accounts selling Microsoft software?
Your behavior is totally unreasonable and outrageous! Now I have decided not to continue entangling with your eBay, but such a platform like yours, such unreasonable behavior, disgusting!

Is there a site out there that you get codes/software from?
Just because others are doing it does not mean it is allowed on eBay.

·1 year agoNot everything is suitable to sell here. Listing any kind of software on eBay is fraught with risk. Some software is just strictly not allowed to be sold here. Other software requires authorization to list. Can you share with us the eBay notice you received regarding your restriction? How many times had you rec’d a warning (or temporary suspension) before they closed you down?

·1 year ago@honestyau I used to sell software. I can tell you that Microsoft has myriad rules and regs, including vendor rulings, licensing complexities and the fact that resellers need to be registered as a Microsoft Partner, or work with an approved vendor. Add in specific regs for different countries, and it is something I would not touch nowadays.
There is no telling how many of those listings not taken down are actually registered vendors - their access to goods is immaterial - we all have the same access. Microsoft is as unrelenting in this, however, as their employment practices (I live in the silicon swamp, home of Microsoft).
eBay is the platform - they do what Microsoft's VERO tells them to do, and that's pretty much it.

·1 year agoMicrosoft Software is sold by authorized resellers under licensing agreements which differ by country. The agreement for a Microsoft user in Australia is different from a user in the US or the UK. The software may or may not be 100% identical.
Enforcement may have been initiated by a complaint from Microsoft, and ignoring it could affect Ebay's protection from liability for a seller caused violation under US law. If that is the case, a broad action without exception might be the Ebay reaction.
Selling Microsoft software is legally very different from selling a pair of jeans. Title to the software does not pass, a right to use is passed.

No one here is an ebay official, this is a community forum made up of buyers and sellers who volunteer to try and help people having difficulties on this site. I can only guess for the reason your accounts caught a red flag; Unless you're an authorized distributor of Microsoft, or any other new currently available product in the marketplace for that matter, ebay will shut you down. This is largely due to fraud, and the ever present SAD lawsuits (schedule a defendant). Large corporate entities are cracking down on people selling their product in a secondary market.

OP1 year agoeBay has dozens of individuals selling similar products, resellers are impossible to retail here, all the individuals selling Microsoft software on eBay, their products are from the same country of resellers. It's not that the individual sellers of Microsoft software that eBay now allows to sell are legal. If they weren't, eBay should cancel all the individuals selling Microsoft software, rather than cancel some arbitrarily and allow others to continue selling.

You have to look at it like speeding.. There may be 10 cars speeding but only you got the ticket.
It doesn't mean they weren't speeding; it just means they haven't be caught yet.

Not arguing that ebay should ban all unauthorized sellers, but if you spend any time on these forums you'll see that there's the way ebay should be in the abstract, and then there's the reality of ebay. The two are very different. Their reasoning in these situations is just as @tobaccocardyahoo states.

OP1 year agoI don't understand. What is your idea of justice? What I can confirm is that all sellers of Microsoft software have the same access to goods. There is nothing wrong with my account, why should it be permanently closed? Since Microsoft software is not allowed to be sold, it should be treated equally, not just written off. This is clearly unfair, not the abstraction and reality you say.

My idea of justice doesn't matter. All I or anyone else can do, is try to explain why you're in the situation you're in. Neither I, nor anyone else on these forums can make, enforce, or amend any of ebay's policies.
