New type of scam happening on eBay!

In April I sold an Apple iPhone for 675.00, shipping included! 3 weeks later I get a "Return" notice that the buyer stated an incorrect listing. SO, I accepted the return and I did the whole return deal through eBay and bought the USPS Label through eBay returns with tracking #to be and sent to the buyer from eBay! I never ever received that return, but after 7 days I got a notice from eBay that they refunded the buyer! Immediately I notified eBay under the help section that there is a fraud/scam involved here! They said they could not refund me due to the iPhone was showing it was returned via a tracking number. BUT I never received. The next day in my mailbox was a package from a seller on eBay and it some kind of odd apple charger that I did NOT purchase and does NOT show up in my purchase summary! So reached out to that seller and asked and they said it was for me! The tracking # on this purchase is what the buyer of MY iPhone used to scam me. I asked the charger seller if they changed this to my address and said no, BUT shows a different user buying that product using my address. Both iPhone buyer and original buyer of the charger states they are in Ukraine, shipping to was here in the states!! SO, I was scammed and I have written 6 to 7 times to eBay to see what they can investigate and no luck so far!! My investigation on this is that the buyer of the charger was the same person that bought my iPhone, but under a different user name and used my address to have this 9.00 charger shipped to me and gave eBay that tracking #! SO, eBay thinks it been returned but it HAS NOT! For the label with tracking # I sent to the original buyer for the return, is completely different than the packaged I received (charger). WATCH OUT USERS!! I have read that this has happened to other users!! BEWARE!!

·1 month agoI got scammed with a similar address switch. Bought an iPhone from a "U.S. seller". Confirmation shows:

-as the seller. I got a delivery confirmation from the P.O. but nothing in my box. I went to the PO and they said it had been delivered to another address, and somehow got the confirmation anyway. They said this is a new scam. That the item that arrived in the other mailbox was probably just some piece of paper. I disputed with the credit card company, so now Ebay will not discuss it with me. I'm done with Ebay. You can't call or email them, so they become part of the scam.

·1 year agoGet the item # of the charger that was sent to you. eBay should be able to connect that the tracking your buyer said was your return was actually used to ship the charger to you. Take this info and everything you stated above and contact eBay through their Facebook page. This will get you US based employees that can actually help.
This is not a new scam and I think they kinda screwed up using another sellers tracking #. Good luck.

OP1 year agoI did give them pics of the tracking # of the label eBay sent and the one that showed it was delivered! Still no resolution. Ill try their facebook & THX!!

·1 year agoyou should gotten a few notification that item has been return and you need to take action. Did you just ignore all of those warnings?

OP1 year agoSorry, yes, I meant I did receive all notifications, but the scammer sent that charger package and used that as the return tracking # to eBay

I'm so sorry to read that this happened to you. Electronics are one of the highest scam items on the internet. You said you have read that this has happened to others, but you didn't say if you read this before or after you were scammed. If you frequent this board, you will read about the multitude of times this happens to sellers. The only people who will see your warnings are people on this board and most of us here are already aware of those scams and will not sell those kinds of items.

OP1 year agoYes, I read those others who were hit after I was scammed. Been selling/buying on eBay since January of 1999. This is my first time being hit! Thx for the reply!!
