New Shipping Business Policies
I have little appreciation to the SW designer at eBay that came up with this seller business policy for shipping and created over 200 shipping policies for my account. While the policies may be fine for things that have limited options like payments and returns where I have only a couple of options on each shipping has a wide variety of options and choices. I do NOT want to scroll down a list of 200 shipping business policies to find the one I want to use for a particular listing. I spent a couple hours changing the policies on my current listings and deleting over 1/2 of the business shipping policies eBay so graciously setup for me.
Yet another fine example of eBay making the sellers life as difficult as possible.

·3 years agoI do not want or need a shipping policy. What I need is to be able to run through listing an item as quick a possible and put in the price I'm asking for shipping at any given time without having to figure out what the heck they are even asking me to do. Half the time it just spins and won't even load the info. Disgusted! Always "IMPROVING" things that do not need improving.

·3 years agoWhat I found out about Business Policies so far payment, shipping, and return terms.

Clue is buried in the FAQs at the bottom of the new Business Policies page, which goes yadda yadda yadda about this important, essential feature before revealing
What happens if I want to opt out of business policies?
You can opt out any time by selecting the Opt out link on the Manage business policies page. Your active listings won't be affected, but if you want to make changes to payment, shipping, and return terms, you'll need to do that individually on each future listing. You can also opt back in to business policies at any time; the policies you already created will still be there, ready for you to use again.

·3 years agoI don't see any place to opt out of business policies or shipping policies. Where is this preference?

·3 years agoThere's a tiny opt-out link in the upper-right corner of the policies page.

·3 years agoHi did you opt out of shipping policies? What happened to your active listings when you did?

·3 years agoI know quite a few sellers that were opted in by ebay and when they opted out, everything was as before. The shipping cost etc could be changed on the listing itself rather than by going into a business policy. The shipping didn't disappear or anything like that.

·3 years agoThe "Manage your business policies" page has got to be one of the dumbest interface designs ever. This should be taught in classes about how not to design UI.
I've got 8 pages of shipping policies. There are hundreds of them. Why didn't Ebay consolidate or clean up these shipping policies before dumping this **** on me?
The stupid tutorial doesn't even cover consolidate or clean up policies !!!!! Performing either is sheerly an experiment on the part of the user.
Does anyone do any user testing at all at Ebay? Why is Ebay's user experience for sellers so horrible?

·3 years agoI may be wrong on this, but I was able to "opt out" of shipping policies on my preferences page......then, when i went to create listings, it was reverted back to the "old way" (where I could tailor the shipping specifically for that item, instead of trying to figure out which 'policy' was the one I wanted)
adding: maybe if you create new listing with a template created while the policies were "in effect" it will revert to policies even if you are opted out.............

Thank you for that tip. I just opted out, never really opted in, and it cleared up all the issues.

·3 years agoI was only looking at the business policies, didn't want them. After I looked at them, without making any changes to that page, ebay decided I should have them. Thank you Monica-sells for the opt out info. It was so small at the top right of the page I really had to search for it.
Seems every time ebay makes an "improvement", it isn't one. Leave well enough alone already!
