Used to sell on eBay from 2008 thru 2021. The views and watchers were at best "ball park number" As a sellers I used to research other listings currently "active and sold" of other sellers to help me determine my selling prices ( always strived to $ position at midpoint pricing after discarding the highest price(s) and the lowest prices & paid more attention to the sold items and had ZERO intention to buy. Feel certain other sellers did the same or similar. Every so often would clear out my Watch List when I thought about it. BTW only did Fixed price listing w/ a separate shipping price with a USPS shipping label that had a tracking number and insurance coverage - used a lot of padded flat rate envelopes when they where decent prices would put breakable items in a box then put them in the envelope - most my stuff sold was preowned clothing - average price range for the 1665 items shipped was in the 45 dollar range not including shipping
As a seller I did have a few items that sold within seconds after posting a listing - not enough time for any to be a Watcher and had only 1 View at most. After all it only takes 1 person to turn a listing into a sale
In a nutshell Views and Watchers numbers never gave me a "warm fuzzy" feeling.
The new format does not show the total money on all bids combined. Is there a way to see this amount somewhere? I can't even find the amount on one bid listed anywhere other than next to the item itself with a bid.
I am looking for this same information! It disappeared today. It was very convenient and fast to have all the information at the top of the active page. E-bay needs to stop 'improving' the website. You want to be able to have all the information available to you quickly, not having to go to different menus & pages to find every piece of information. Worse yet, they seemed to have gotten rid of this information totally as I can not find a page that has all of the following on the same page: Current # bidders; total amount of winning bids; number of offers; number of questions from buyers. When they 'improved' the website a few years ago, it slowed down my listing process as I could no longer fit all the information at once onto my screen.... now it's all about scrolling & finding the right page to get the information. What used to take 20 seconds to find now takes 2 minutes or more clicking and scrolling all over the website.
I disliked the "Item Descriptions" when they were implemented and still do. However, this new Seller Hub format is another foul ball by eBay. What I liked best, was seeing how much my money increased with each new bid each time I went into my eBay account. That is not possible with the new format.
The Programmers must be trying to justify their existence or some Executives are attempting to see how much they can annoy the Sellers with trite changes that do nothing to improve the eBay experience. It has become a lot of extra work and unnecessary steps for Sellers. Most buyers only look at the pictures and the price in our listings. They don't even read anything about the item you are selling.
That is all exactly what I have been thinking! Someone trying to justify their job and is actually losing all their customers by making it more complicated. I will be looking into other auction sites and hopefully, they will fix this issue before to many people leave. I can't imagine it is that difficult to put the stats back at the top of the page and keep their new pull down menus besides.
Click 'active listings' and it shows you right there, each item all the way down the list (if it don't- click 'custom' and be sure to add that "Column")
Are you referring to the lack of a "summary" at the top of the page? If so, you should be able to see the total number of listings with watchers by using the "status" filter and choosing listings with watchers.
I like knowing the number of watchers right away without being forced to go through all kinds of rigamarole. A very good instant indicator of sales potential.
It's one button click. You can see the number in the drop-down without even selecting anything. In my opinion that's not "all kinds of rigamarole." I speak out a lot about unnecessary clicks and less efficiency in eBay re-designs, but I (personally) don't think that's happening here. Sorry it's turning out to be an inconvenience for you. These types of changes can be pretty frustrating to get used to.

It has now disappeared and is not found in the filter menu. It was always right there where it should be in seller hub and you could click on the watcher link to get a list showing how many watchers per item and then you could decide what to do. Hiding it in filters is ridiculous and a waste of time, in fact not even there at all for me. This happened once before and then returned to the normal format.

Since you never really answered OP's question, maybe try this one - why did eBay make this change to eliminate a visible counter on landing page while they still have a filter option "Listings with watchers" immediately above the list. Rename that space "Watchers" and add sp(xxxxx) and they'd still take up less space. As you point out, the counter is maintained on another page so there's no calc required.
Sometimes it's easier to just not click when you don't have an answer or feel like telling somebody how they should experience the world.
