New Seller - Ebay altered product description & shipped return to 5y/o address
Made 1st sales listing ever, apparently Ebay AI altered the product listing to mention vehicles it doesn't fit. Big drag, so first return....I figured I'd just have to eat the cost after going in circles trying the online help
Well, what's more is the buyer was given an address I haven't used in over 5 years to return it to....not the address it shipped from, which is the same as where my billing and buying addresses have been for years, and under My eBay -> Shipping Addresses -> Return Addresses it had *NOTHING* listed (of course I only figure this out *after* it had already been shipped to the wrong address!)
Why in the world would eBay select an address from 5 years ago? Why didn't it ask me for a return address when listing if none were in my settings? Why did it alter my listing in the first place, which prompted the return?

·5 months agoMany other auto parts sellers on EBAY have complained about EBAY Fitment Chart giving customers "false information".
To turn off, go to SITE PREFERENCES, SELLING PREFERENCES, AUTOMATE FITMENT ON LISTINGS (select EDIT and click to TURN OFF). If color is "blue" it means that preference is still "turned on".
I didn't even know EBAY required a "return address" (mine is blank also but EBAY still returns everything to my current "ship from address" that I had on file when I registered with EBAY.

·5 months agoMine is turned off, has never been turned on. Yet fitment is in thousands of my listings.
Today on what I noticed, items sold over the weekend.
1996 temp sensor. Fitment chart showing thousands of vehicles up into 2022.
Same thing with 1968 Impala parts.
eBay has taken it upon themselves to put this in my listings because I have for CERTAIN never done it.

·5 months agoWhat EBAY is doing to the auto parts Seller is a nightmare, I don't know how you guys can stay afloat with "free returns" (that's nuts). I wish EBAY would stop meddling in everyone's listings.

·5 months agoI've got mine set to No Returns.
When you pull up a listing, eBay wants you to check fitment to see if qualifies for Free Returns.
I'm not sure how this all works out though.
Recently, I've had several return requests "Doesn't Fit", And I have the option to deny the return.
Which, I've never had that option in the past on "doesn't fit".
SO, I have no idea what's going on.

eBay does that to car parts. Not sure how to prevent it. Not sure there is a way to prevent it.
The compatibility / fitment issues are beyond frustrating. That's on eBay.
As for your return address. That's on you. Check your return address settings and correct it.

Sellers are responsible for updating all address in their account.
If you used AI for the description you, the seller, are again responsible for the information.
Before you allow an item listing to go live, you need to check it is 100% correct.
All listings state that the seller is responsible.
