Ebay not being seller friendly is an understatement.
The most upsetting part is knowing that I just lost $500 without a real human even looking or caring about my case at all. They will just side with the buyer and refund them because it's easier than doing any actual investigation.
Absolutely do NOY sell your gift cards on this website. You will get scammed, ebay will not look into it, and you will lose the full amount.

Very sorry this was a bad experience for you. Sadly, the buyer was subjected to an equally bad, if not worse, experience.
The above link is to the Gift Card policy on eBay. According to it, e-gift cards such as the one you sold are not allowed to be listed in every situation. It was a risky proposition listing an item from the not-allowed list, further complicating matters.
One must be fully prepared before selling online. If not, stepping into the fire will result in inevitable burns.

I'm sorry for what happened to you, but you are clearly not ready to be a seller here on eBay. This is not a sell and dash venue and had you took the time to read up on things, this could have been avoided. Gift cards scams are big issues on all venues. I wish eBay would shut down that category along with many others. Sad, Again very sorry.

OP2 years agoHomeDepot now requires the actual gift card to be scanned at checkout. No more just entering number or code. The coin star change machines give a receipt which will only be honored online.

You gave the gift card number away, by posting a complete picture of the bar code in your listing. Any one could use a demo barcode-scanning app to get the full number of the card. Like I just did:
I'm rather surprised there was anything left on the card when your buyer tried to use it.
Seller's mistake, sorry. You definitely owe the buyer a full refund. And an apology.

But buyer mentioned....$260.40...on the card rather than 0...
Usually a buyer would say there is a 0 balance...and that .40 cents after $260.00....hmmmm
