New (?) easy edit feature
Never seen this before. If I scroll over the price of an item in Active Listings, an 'edit' pencil appears. Has this actually been around a while, and I just never noticed it before?
I gave it a try with a BIN listing. I think it would have worked but it came back with an error about the fact that I had automatic reject/accept amounts for buyer offers. So I didn't mess with it anymore.
Then I noticed the pencil even appears for current auction bid amounts. 😆 Uhhhhh ..... yeah I don't think I'm going to mess with that at all.

·5 months agoI don't know how long it's been available, but I've used it for a long time to adjust prices on my listings.
@gurlcat Since you hadn't seen that little pencil before, did you know you can do a lot of things from that screen? On a computer, if you bring up your active listings, at the top are some blue boxes, one is labeled "actions". All kinds of adjustments you can make. (I'm guessing you probably already knew about this.)

·5 months agoFor the record, I still don't see it on my listings.

·5 months ago@fern*wood - Thanks for that link - so it was a "staggered release" that's still staggering for nearly eight years!

·5 months agoThat's the ebay way.
Staggered releases that never ever actually roll out to every seller.
I especially loathe the ones where it's rolled out to 'select sellers' and then abandoned, but those selected first have to live with it.

·5 months agoI know it's probably not feasible (or if it is they'd manage to screw it up somehow), but I REALLY wish you could use the pencil function on shipping cost for flat rate shipping items.
I mean they could leave everything else the same and just allow only the ship cost to be edited from there.

·5 months agoGlad to see someone else (besides me) say that. I've wished that for a long time.

·5 months agoWait, so when you go to your Active listings in the Seller Hub, and hover over the price, SKU, or quantity, you don't see the little pencil?
fern*wood
·5 months agoThanks, yes I see it now. I guess I'd never hovered.😆

OP5 months ago@fern*wood I still think it's "new" for me. I'll admit I'm terrible about being blind to things I never use, but the way this pencil keeps popping on and off when I simply scroll down the page now (like slightly annoying), I'm sure I would have noticed it before.

·5 months agoI hear ya, I'm the same. I actually didn't think I had the feature yet. 😆

·5 months agoHeh, I get that! You see screenshots like this, you go and look and it's not visible, and most people don't think about it changing if you hover (I have a technical support background for 15+ years, or I might not have thought to ask that either).

·5 months agoI'd guess it's been there two years or more. I've used it frequently and found it's the easiest way to make price adjustments when there's only a few to do. (But eBay often rolls out changes, so, @gurlcat , maybe it just got to you this week.)
I have never used it where there is a live bid - I hope nothing would happen if I tried - but I'd be interested to know what happens if it's clicked on when there is a live bid on the item. The edit pencil should be there if the seller wanted to change the opening bid but it should disappear once a bid has been made.

That's usually how I adjust my prices.

OP5 months agoHa I just don't know how I never saw it before.

·5 months agoFYI, this isn't doable when you have the listing on a discount or sale.
Also if you didn't know, this feature is also allowed for changing the Custom Label SKU and the quantity. While I hardly use it to change price or SKU, I use it all the time to change the quantity of things especially because all my listings are multi-variation. It takes so many darn clicks to get into a listing to change the quantity of a variation the conventional way that having the pencil function is a godsend. I use to dread restocking and adding things back into inventory before the friendly pencil came about.

·5 months agoIt's especially helpful when you're double checking inventory on MV listings.

·5 months agoThis has been around for a while. You can use it on quantity, SKU and a couple of others.

·5 months agoYep, pretty sure it's been there for a bit. That's how I update prices when I do a bulk "end/sell similar" batch.
gurlcat
OP5 months ago@tarotfindsandmore Wait, how can you do it in a 'bulk' way when it only shows the pencil one listing price at a time?
tarotfindsandmore
·5 months agoWhen you scroll over to the listing to make the edit, if you're doing them one at a time (rather than as a group using the percentage increase or decrease), the little pencil shows up.

·5 months agoI don't use auctions, but the edit pencil has been there for a while, it's a nice tool to edit the quantity and price of items on your active list without doing "Revise item",

·5 months ago@gurlcat Pretty sure that's been around for a while. Never used it for auctions , but I've change some prices for BINs.
