New Condition Specifics for Coins
I got an email today about new condition specifics for coins (that we choose from a drop down menu).
I went to one of my coin listings to edit and add this, and I don't see where in the listing this is going to be added. The email said this is new to replace item specifics.
My third party software had a dropdown for condition, but when I open the listing now the condition dropdown goes away. I haven't figured out yet if SixBit will update this automatically when eBay implements the change or if I have to download an update.
I've planned time away in about 2 weeks, so I'd like to get this done before time away so it's running well with the require specifics when I return.

·3 months agoThis policy is going cause problems. Grading coins has always been subjectional. Now we are going to have amateurs grading coins, what can go wrong.

·3 months agoAs I Stated Up Thread, I see a lot of sellers getting MORE INADS if only because of the Grading Issue, I put in My listings that the BUYER decides the GRADE and CONDITION of the coin(s), That way they are deciding whether to purchase or not based on the Pictures that are on the listing.
As You stated, ' Grading is Subjective' What I think is F-VF may be TOTALLY DIFFERENT than how You would grade it.
Guess We will have to 'WAIT' and 'SEE'.

·3 months agoBy the time everyone here is done posting and complaining, you could have had it done using bulk edit. Be more productive. Get 'er done! 😛

·3 months agoOMG! eBay did this, eBay didn't do that, blah blah blah. Just do a bulk edit. It is very simple. Ones that don't show up with the drop-down option, just skip for now. Should take a few minutes to half an hour for up to a few thousand listings. It's very easy with a bulk edit.

·3 months agoUpdate: Got the email today that this is NOW LIVE. So far it seems to be geared towards putting the SMALL SELLER in a LOWER CLASS and catering to the LARGER SELLERS. Also, it appears that they want You to use THEIR Pricing Suggestions. 🤔 JMO😎
ETA: I think that sellers are going to have to put the pertinent info in the item description to avoid getting hammered with INADs. again JMO😬

Mid-June-Early July: Condition requirements required for all existing listings
Listings without condition data may be blocked or hidden after these dates.
What to do now
Start adding condition details to all of your new listings
Review any updated listings to ensure accuracy
Begin updating your existing listings that are missing condition information

Your experience mirrors my own. These features simply don't exist, particularly since the email states to add these new "structured conditions" that are outside of the item specifies. I contacted customer service and they have not been given any information either. One rep is going to contact the internal team and get back to me. If she provides any info I can share I will update you.

·4 months agoand the wonderful people at eBay do not recognize either proof or specimen coins in there new listing requirements, suit without brains=eBay management.

·3 months agoSeems to be no logical way to list lots or properly describe coins that might not receive grades from respected companies that offer authentication and holder “upgradable” types …

·3 months agoYes, it is by NGC standards. UNC details cleaned, UNC details holed, XF details, etc. eBay doesn't care if it has been cleaned, bent, or holed. Use the same standards that the grading services all use.

·3 months agoSo what. Work with their requirements. That's all eBay requires. Isn't a proof uncirculated? Sure, it is. And yes, I know they have impaired proofs.

·3 months agoThis is one of the worst eBay ideas. Most people do not know how to grade coins
with any sort of accuracy, I have been selling/grading coins for over 40 years and
still don't always get it right. I see many coins listed as fine or very fine that are in
truth only in good condition. Great photos make it easy for the buyer to determine
what he/she believes the grade to be. I think we may see a buyer complaint spike
when a coin purchased as "fine" worth say $15 but when shown to his/her local
dealer and is told it is in "good" condition worth only $3. With a 30 day return
I see feedback and returns galore. Please let me know if I am missing something.

·4 months agoHave the same issue with my seller ID (about 3,000 coins annually).
Interesting that Ebay states what they require and when they are going to require it... But provide nothing in the way of implementation, logistics or instructions. Would be nice to get a head start in dealing with this issue.
Sixbit is usually good in dealing with these issues, but they may not yet know the required logistics. Frustrating that eBay would say "here is the change" without showing their sellers how to make the change.

OP4 months agoI'm getting a little anxious about it but this is brand new and I probably have to just wait before I can make changes.
When changes are implemented during a period of time that I'm away, it's not helpful in giving me time to fix it. I'm planning to be away for most of May, which is when the changes are starting and when I'm supposed to be making these changes.
