Just noticed this new condition option for Parts and Accessories: "Used - Part on Vehicle"
Seems like it could be an issue as parts do break when being removed for various reasons, or have underlying issues that aren't visible until removal. Never mind that most junkyards just use a single picture of the vehicle so you can't even see the exact part you are buying.
For how much eBay pushes the seller to disclose any issues or damage in the listing description and condition choice, along with good photos of the item, to me it is an odd option to add.

·4 months agoThis is for junkyards that use software to list an entire car worth of parts at once, not really knowing if the part is good or not. Many times they have one or no actual pictures of the part they are listing, just pictures of the whole car.
These sellers will have hundreds of thousands of listings and very few sales. Their main goal is to drive buyers off ebay to their own site. Ebay is happy to let this happen to boost the "180 million parts on ebay" claims and just collect store and listing fees from these ultra low quality listings that clog up the search with mostly over priced garbage. They typically have quite a few red doughnuts for canceling sales, cause the parts no good or they already sold it. You know, the thing ebay hates the most and you can only have a few if you are a small seller.

If a seller like this has 3 million listings, it seems eBay listens to them and caters to them.
If that's not enough, how about several sellers like that, with the same interests.
If eBay isn't listening directly to them. Then eBay is certainly listening to the company that represents thousands of these sellers.

·4 months agoMore than half of the mess on here right now is due to a few used sellers that have over a million parts listed (or rather, all of the sellers playing in a particular segment of the auto salvage industy).
Yes, the kind with a photo of the vehicle, no description, and just a page of add, policy, and disclaimers.
And when you click on their items sold? Pretty sad compared to the amount they have listed.
That's why we now have "My Garage", Item Specifics, Fitment, etc. So that these sellers can list a thousand parts a day in the same manner as always (but FASTER), and search results are manipulated toward their listings. Trying to keep the big boys happy.
Yet, their items still sell poorly. BUT, they can swamp the field with listings and bury other sellers good listings.
Used-Part On Vehicle is just another attempt to appease them.
